Hello... haven't read this properly but yes, MNHQ have asked me to write some editorial pages about SN topics. Obviously I am a clueless numpty about such matters so I will be consulting the SN board when I do this. Won't be long before I start tackling it, I'm just staring out of the window finishing off some pretty websites for some easier other clients first... If you have any ideas then jot them down so we can put something that's going to be useful together.

morningpaper · 15/05/2009 13:14

personal accounts sound good - the more material from Mumsnetters the better.

Davros · 15/05/2009 15:52

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MRSFORGETFUL!!!! And welcome back.
Don't we already have a section with supposedly useful links? And Fio suggested a while ago putting some sort of "guide book" together. Lazy cow didn't do anything though but is there anything useful from that thread, e.g. volunteers?
Fio, just realised that you must have lost your job at the best shop in the world

Davros · 15/05/2009 16:07

Oi! Are you all ignoring me? Actually now I'm beginning to feel guilty about people being ignored although it is impossible to keep up and always be able to tell what threads to open, never mind respond to. But it does happen to everyone (Gary McKinnon anyone?)

Arabica · 15/05/2009 16:32

morningpaper, why not commission a parent (eg me) to write the stuff you don't know much about? You could always edit to style afterwards.
There is just so little out there for parents of children with SN that actually deals authentically with the different ways we might feel--on diagnosis, on lack of diagnosis, on realising this is for life and not just a bith thing. You're often saddled with sentiment/religious homilies, vague lines about 'coping with stress' (usually involving scented candles and/or going for a walk), or scary stuff about getting psychiatric help, with little in between. Mumsnet could be the first place to go to find out how parents really feel.

morningpaper · 15/05/2009 16:51

I think my name was in the hat because some of the material will be similar to the SN chapter of the toddler book. Do you think it would be better done by a mum from the SN board? I don't want to get beaten up piss you all off by making a hash of it

Peachy · 15/05/2009 17:01

Can't it be done in conjunction wioth the SN board? I'll happily help where I can.

Davros · 15/05/2009 17:03

I say let morningpaper do the donkey work and we can provide the wisdom

morningpaper · 15/05/2009 17:03

Gosh yes. I'm planning it for next week. I might kick off a thread now...

Peachy · 15/05/2009 17:06

I agree Davros

It ahs to reflect more than any person's experiences... even having done it twice / three times if you include the SEN fr ds2 it's been vastly different every time, it definitely ahs to be a mix of peoples inputs. otherwise it becomes 'Peachy's experience of SN' or anyone else and that's pointless

Peachy · 15/05/2009 17:07

Didn't Fio have some stuffed back along. along these lines? Or am I going batty?

morningpaper · 15/05/2009 17:28

OK I have started two threads:

Mumsnet pages on SN: What info should they contain? so we can put together ideas about structure and content, and:

Mumsnet pages on SN: What links/other websites and organisations should we recommend? so we can put together a list of resources / signposts / links or whatever you want to call it.

I've just read that as "I'm not ignoring you...SMELLY!

macwoozy · 15/05/2009 21:54

And how about a 'I would like to join in but don't want to make a numpty of myself but I kind of agree with what you're saying' type smiley.

MsF · 16/05/2009 12:51

LOL CT! Macwoozy!

(i reckon i'd do better communicating completely in smileys!!!)

oh that is odd
I can only assume that maybe something happened on here or in rl, to make people change their minds about being so open iynwim. Something like the "race" thread upet a lot of people and the lack of deletion might have made people feel unsafe(reason why I don't contribute to these things)

Does the account delete e-mails after a certain amount of time? I think mine are automatically deleted after 3 months or so.
