I have not been in Mumsnet lately as often as I do, but I think that I have seen a bit of the "power" of Mumsnet.

One of the big examples was the campaign to join the donor register initiated by Misdee. Hundreds of people signed.

The other one was the tantrum by shewhomustnotbenamed... we managed to be in the national news within hours of knowing of it.

I almost said 'don't make me accuse you of chauvinism, now' but I'm holding that one back. I only realised yesterday that this, erm, mistaken impression is being busily conveyed, so I'm going to give people a few days to sort out their sites before getting seriously snippy on their asses.

Oh wow, congratulations Lenin!

Richard wasn't first. I asked mine at a press conference at around 1pm (and then another one at around 4pm). Richard asked his at Gordon Brown's conference, which was at 5.30-ish. The reason Richard's getting the attention (well, the palatable explanation) is that he got it in to Brown, not a mere Secretary of State.

Must admit I am narked by this. Then I feel slightly pathetic for being narked.

Richard is the tax expert man (and thoroughly good chap, and all power to him). We had high hopes of Youth Boy getting a q in to Obama on the grounds of his ickleness, but sadly it didn't happen.
