Oh Lord, I have so much to do today, but following this thread is a full time job! I am hugely overexcited for you PW!

policywonk · 02/04/2009 09:29

I like RP but not in that way.

Kady o'malley (the bleached blond woman in that flickr photo) is lovely.

bother
will catch up later

cherryblossoms · 02/04/2009 09:36

Have a great day!

Going out now, will be back and lurking later.

Thanks Policywonk and mn for doing this.

georgimama · 02/04/2009 09:37

CMOT, your theory is entirely correct.

Civil defence. It's what all those pointless leisure centres built in the 1970s onwards on ring roads in small towns are for as well. There's a book by Peter Hennessy about the governments preparations for nuclear war, and leisure and conferencing centres were a big part of it. Them and Box Tunnel.

That's why then there is a flood/silly amounts of snow and motorways get shut and housing estates evacuated, people get shunted off to leisure centres en masse.

If it came down to a ladies' nude wrestling match, who would win - Sarah, Michelle or Carla? I've got to say Carla, I reckon she'd fight dirty - nails and everything.

iSOLOvechocolate · 02/04/2009 09:39

Good luck today PW!!! I have to go out today, but will hopefully get back on later.

Hassled · 02/04/2009 09:52

Yes, Carla would win. I wouldn't want to cross Carla. Interesting about the leisure/conference centres.

Good luck today PW - hope all goes well.

MollieO · 02/04/2009 10:03

Good luck with Robert Peston. Please would you ask him this question - "Do you feel a tiny bit responsible for starting the credit crunch?" He is, isn't he?

Also please let us know how tall he is - I reckon he is about 5'4".

I will be listening on my Iphone unless ds makes me go on the Jungle rollercoaster (rather hoping he has forgotten that ride exists).

policywonk · 02/04/2009 10:04

Press conference with Douglas Alexander at 10.30. Will see if I can squeeze in something about MHN. Whaddya reckon:

'Millennium Development Goal #5 aims to reduce maternal mortality by 75 per cent by 2015. As yet, it's the MDG that has seen the least progress. Why do you think this is?'

OP posts:
policywonk · 02/04/2009 10:05

Mollie, I will try to ask him that! Would be funny. He seems a good sport...

OP posts:
snice · 02/04/2009 10:07

Kady O'malley looks like that Dj whose name I can't remember - Emma something?

(I thought we were all meant to be posting sensible stuff about ishoos today)

blithedance · 02/04/2009 10:07

That is great on the maternal mortality MDG - good luck

policywonk · 02/04/2009 10:08

Hope you have a good day at Legoland, Mollie (does anyone over 8 have a good time at Legoland?)

OP posts:
ilovegreenbeans · 02/04/2009 10:10

I saw Obama's "lighlty" escorted car driving down Commercial Road this morning.

Good luck today pw!

georgimama · 02/04/2009 10:14

I blame Kirsty & Phil, Sarah Beeney etc.

bleh · 02/04/2009 10:14

But why the ExCel Centre? It's right under the flightpath to City airport. I sat through exams in that place. It's terrible.

I think Carla would DEFINITELY win. Sarah's too nice.

EssieW · 02/04/2009 10:20

definitely go for the MDG on maternal health question.

Then be really cheeky and ask him how much money the govt are going to allocate to it.

Can't remember what's in teh DFID strategy about it but they're also writing a new international development white paper at the moment (I think they're in the consultation phase) so great to get the issue up there

cyteen · 02/04/2009 10:21

I have nothing of any significance to add as brain is still post-natal mush, but must tell you that you are absolutely gorgeous policywonk. Every time I come to the home page I have a little jaw drop.

Lemontart · 02/04/2009 10:22

I love that bloggers cartoon on the flickr link higher up! Bacon sarnies look damn tasty too

Good luck today pw. I really hope you have the opportunity to push some of these issues forward, like maternal mortality. We are all feeling rather proud of you

(Is the coffee spill problem sorted?)

georgimama · 02/04/2009 10:22

Michelle has very toned arms though (as she is fond of showing us). She might have significant upper body strength - Carla's quite skinny.

Sarah would definitely get whooped by either of them. Far too jolly head girl lets all be nice.

gizmo · 02/04/2009 10:23

Top journalistic questioning, PW!

And actually, I'd have a sneaky side bet on Michelle in the celebrity death match. That woman is tall and has impressive arms.
