Mumsnet - please can you sort out all the Jade posts?

Its horrible. Regardless of what she did/didn't do, she was a mother. We are all mums and God forbid we will ever have to go through something like this, knowing we will leave our kids behind and not see them grow up.

Threads like this are not in the spirit of Mumsnet and yes, I can hide them if I want, but to be honest, would like to see them deleted. I know policy is to let the debates run with minimum intervention, but tonight its going too far

Thanks,

Puss

Yes please.

Thank you puss.

frasersmummy · 22/03/2009 22:28

or at least merge them all into 1 like we did with baby P

like puss says tonight has become mad

yousaidit · 22/03/2009 22:28

i agree, thanks for raising this one, puss.

twinsetandpearls · 22/03/2009 22:28

i agree it is even more embaressing than moldiegate, grown women bickering over a corpse.

LadyOfWaffle · 22/03/2009 22:29

Hear hear

MollieO · 22/03/2009 22:29

I think the general consensus is that it is moldie stirring unfortunately.

twinsetandpearls · 22/03/2009 22:30

I have not read them properly tbh to make comment on that mollie and dont want to get dragged into moldiegate again.

2shoes · 22/03/2009 22:31

can I disagree
I asked this at the begining and was told no.
mn should treat this like they do other distateful threads.

TweetleBeetle · 22/03/2009 22:32

Yes please do, actually no can you have one thread for everyone to put on all their messages of sympathy but then allow no more.

I too am saddened to hear of her death and feel desperately sorry for her friends and family, especially her two sons, however it is getting ridiculous with this outpouring of grief.

Have just had to turn off the news with pictures of people who no doubt didn't even know her outside her house in tears.

Again just to clarify, it is terribly sad and I disagree with people Jade bashing, however I am just as sick of this dianafication of her.

CKelpie · 22/03/2009 22:33

Here Here.

I have been avoiding all related threads because I know the contents could offend but I would rather not have to see endless variations.

DSM · 22/03/2009 22:33

Agree with OP

psychomum5 · 22/03/2009 22:34

it is not a moldie IMVHO.

they are not nasty and vindictive. not like whoever is doing all this tonight.

personally I think it hugharssse, or whoever was/is behind her persona.

she is a troll of long standing, who feels the need to crap on MN like this occasionally.

and she is attention seeking after everyone has stopped mentioing her.

well, so I think anyway!!!

QuintessentialShadow · 22/03/2009 22:36

I have seen quite a few of these threads, participated on some.

There is nothing new. It follows the same patterns as ever with "competitive public grief" over a celebrity or other event broadly publicised in the media.

One thread, such as with baby p, such as with mccain, etc, would do.

Let the mourners let out their grief for this woman, and maybe, just maybe, the rest of us could just ignore the thread and enjoy the forum in bliss ful ignorance of it.

twinsetandpearls · 22/03/2009 22:38

I agree quint just have one thread.

CatherineMumsnet · 22/03/2009 22:38

Hi all. We did discuss this a few weeks back and decided against it, however it has all got a bit out of control tonight. We'll talk it over at MNHQ tomorrow and let you know what we decide.

beanieb · 22/03/2009 22:40

"I think the general consensus is that it is moldie stirring unfortunately." ooooh - really!?

I agree with the OP. And QuintessentialShadow is so right about ignoring the thread that's the best suggestion ever!

PussinJimmyChoos · 22/03/2009 22:40

Thanks Mumsnet - I don't have a problem with a grieving thread and I'm sure others feel the same. After all, we do live in a cult of celebrity watching.

However, all the slagging off and dragging up the BB brother threads is just not Mumsnet or the spirit of Mumsnet

OP posts:
MollieO · 22/03/2009 22:40

One thread - the one about a birthday - has already gone but that was a new one today. The person resurrecting the old threads has previously posted on a number of 'normal' threads with normal sounding comments so not typical troll behaviour imo.

2shoes · 22/03/2009 22:41

so are we going to banned from saying anything apart from sad stuff now?

SlightlyMadScotland · 22/03/2009 22:42

Actually for a while I was praying that tech would break MN for a few hours to calm things down. Now that is desperate.

It wasn't just the threads that were obviously Jade. It was the sideline ones where OP would hint at those threads etc. It was quite bizaare and inappropriate.

Amapoleon · 22/03/2009 22:42

One thread is best I think.

QuintessentialShadow · 22/03/2009 22:42

There has been so many threads about threads, and cryptic threads, and deleted threads.

ONE thread for discussing this, not for slating that poor woman, and those who disagree with the whole debacle can just stay away.

Dont know what you mean 2shoes. But obviously this has affected some people, and they need to chat about it. Let them have ONE thread to do it, without lots of people ridiculing them or slating the person in question. Those who disagree with this public outpooring can just hide it.

But you cant hide several threads popping up here and there, with cryptic titles, and you dont know what the thread is until you have clicked.

twinsetandpearls · 22/03/2009 22:44

I dont think there is anything wrong in talking, discussing sad stuff. But people are being rude and childish about someone who has just died. I believe in free speach so if people want to do that go ahead but not all over the place.

QuintessentialShadow · 22/03/2009 22:46

I just think it has been enough malice. What more can possibly be said. Let people have an outlet without people (like me) butting in slating the woman.
