THIS MORNING - which charity should mumsnet contribute their fees to??

That's it really. Mumsnet are appearing on 'This Morning' in the not to distant future, so where do their fees go?

I think there should be a poll on which charity it goes to - don't you?

i think they should go to keeping MN running, with maybe a contribution to charity.

if MN are getting any fees at all....

Peachy · 09/02/2009 19:24

A poll would be good.

There's already a link with a cot death charity isn't there? I think you'd have to be pretty mean to be anti that.

Whereas if you asked for more ideas we'd all just yell for the one that helps us most.

For a more general MN ethos alike charity- Homestart?

charitygirl · 09/02/2009 19:24

Why doesn't it go to Mumsnet - the chat don't come for free!

And do they even get a fee?

lou031205 · 09/02/2009 19:25

How generous of you to 'help' MN apportion their fees (if they exist)

Legacy · 09/02/2009 19:26

I don't see why they should go to charity at all really? Mumsnet is a business, and Justine et al invested a lot of time for free early in the project, so re-investment in the business now just kind of evens it out?

As an aside, I wouldn't be surprised if there ISN'T a fee anyway... it will be deemed to be good PR for them (for free)

ahundredtimes · 09/02/2009 19:27

I'm not sure there will be a fee? They get airspace to sell the book, and be guests on the show. If they were paid, then I imagine they would put it in their MN tin. Quite right too.

FrazzledFairyFay · 09/02/2009 19:29

I'm pretty sure that celebs don't get an appearance fee if they are promoting something

MrsWilburton · 09/02/2009 19:29

If I was on it id take the money moi meme

davidbowiescodpiece · 09/02/2009 19:31

I doubt there will be a fee. But if there is I am with Peachy- Homestart is a brilliant choice

Carmenere · 09/02/2009 19:32

They are plugging a book, I would be very suprised if they got fees and I wouldn't consider it any of our business what they do with fees if they did get any.

southeastastra · 09/02/2009 19:32

give it to that depressed dog charity

MrsWilburton · 09/02/2009 19:33

I d frigging SHOOT those dogs if I ever saw one. Ane the pathetic voice over.

ace123 · 09/02/2009 19:37

MUMSNET - do you get a fee?

ace123 · 09/02/2009 20:00

Fair enough if it was just Mumsnet & not involving mumsnetters. It's exploitation.

People that go on TV who are not media savvy are taken advantage of. This whole 'This Morning' thing is a good example. Selling your soul for 15 minutes of fame increases the ratings and decreases participants self-worth.

OP posts:
ahundredtimes · 09/02/2009 20:00

I'd shoot the person doing the voice over for shure. And the dogs. They won't appreciate it. They'll just sniff it dolefully and then sigh, and lie down and write bad poetry about their feelings.

Much better to keep it.

ineeedtostopworrying · 09/02/2009 20:00

Homestart

ace123 · 09/02/2009 20:03

MUMSNET - will your fees go to homestart?

OP posts:
Pennies · 09/02/2009 20:03

ace123 - do you work? If so can I start a thread asking complete strangers which charity your wages should be paid to?

Twims · 09/02/2009 20:04

What's the chairty that does the big coffee morning thing as a way of fundraising - because isn't this a big coffee morning?

ahundredtimes · 09/02/2009 20:06

I don't think anybody is being exploited here

AitchTwoOh · 09/02/2009 20:07
