THIS MORNING - which charity should mumsnet contribute their fees to??

ace123 · 09/02/2009 19:22

That's it really. Mumsnet are appearing on 'This Morning' in the not to distant future, so where do their fees go?

I think there should be a poll on which charity it goes to - don't you?

Oh didn't realise this wasn't from HQ

DanJARMouse · 09/02/2009 20:07

ace - i think you are being incredibly RUDE.

MN can do what they please with the money, if they are even getting any.

Jeez.... some people.

Hassled · 09/02/2009 20:07

Oh piss off ace123 - this is their livelihood. Do you think every time Myleene et al go on This Morning they donate their fee to charity? No, because it's a source of income. And it's not really up to us to question what the MNHQ bods do with their money. Would you like me to tell you what to do with your income?

Yurtgirl · 09/02/2009 20:08

I reckon the fee to should go to Mumsnet

Its not as if Carrie and Justine et al earn pots of money from Mumsnet, they didnt set it up with the intention of earning money either but I still think they deserve it for all the hard work, blood, sweat and tears they put in

Especially due to the recent moldie gate drama which I found unpleasant and nasty tbh

JustineMumsnet · 09/02/2009 20:08

Fees - there are fees involved? Are you sure. Whoopee!!!

DanJARMouse · 09/02/2009 20:09

bless you Justine x

SobranieCocktail · 09/02/2009 20:09

ace123 - why so chippy sounding?

Pennies · 09/02/2009 20:10

Justine, I think you just end this debate now give all fees to ME!

Tamarto · 09/02/2009 20:10

'It's exploitation.'

Really? I wasn't aware anyone was being forced into it, anyone who joins MN on the sofa will be doing it perfectly aware of what is going on. I can't see Fern and or Philip giving them a hard time and i certianly can't see Justine & or whoever letting it happen. It isn't JK you know.

diedandgonetodevon · 09/02/2009 20:10

Surely the won't get paid? I've always assumed you go on shows like that for promotional reasons and therefore don't need paying?

artichokes · 09/02/2009 20:14

nobody is being exploited Ace. MN asked for volunteers and is not coercing people to help.

talking about toddlers to phil and fern is hardly "selling your soul to the devil" is it? and i think most mumsnetters are savvy enough to know what they are getting into. for a start i think we are all aware that mn is a business.

i hope you are just a troll stirring for trouble and not a genuine poster with serious paranoia issues.

ahundredtimes · 09/02/2009 20:15

THERE ARE NO FEES

THERE IS NO EXPLOITATION

NO SOULS WILL BE SOLD

I might make banners

MrsWilburton · 09/02/2009 20:17

You are far too free and easy with your banners these days.

ace123 · 09/02/2009 20:17

Yes, Pennies that's interseting, I do work.

& I think it's fair to say that whatever percentage of their fees Mumsnet donate to charity from their appearance on this morning, I will do the same for the same charity!

OP posts:
OliviaMumsnet · 09/02/2009 20:22

I think Justine and Carrie SHOULD go on JK

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 09/02/2009 20:23

I've a feeling that, if there is any fee, MN towers will be restocking their gin supplies. (I've a feeling they've become gin-dependant since November )

Tamarto · 09/02/2009 20:24

If they do will i get a portion of their fee for recommending it?

Eve34 · 09/02/2009 20:34

I know I am going to be biased here but we have had a number of threads ref HD. I work for the HDA and know that funds are scarce. as they are for all charieties.
Sure whatever you choose would be a worth cause.

ace123 · 09/02/2009 21:11

I don't think it's rude to ask if fees are going to charity.

It's a 'win win' situation. Whatever MNHQ makes out of mumsnetters appearing on 'This Morning' & donate to charity I will match percentage-wize on what I make per minute or however long they are on for.

If no fee ... would it be rude/chippy to ask if any percentage of your profits from selling said books with the help of mums netters goes to charity?

OP posts:
AitchTwoOh · 09/02/2009 21:36

i think it would, yes.

look, MN is a business, it doesn't have to do anything for charity. i don't care whether it does or doesn't, i don't care if it (as is claimed) makes little profit or if it makes LOADS... it's a better website than most parenting ones. that's all they have to run to have done their jobs properly as far as i'm concerned. just a better-than-most site. because in that site, acts of real live human charity take place on a daily and hourly basis.

but as it happens, i know that they've knocked back considerable fees because they have issues (that their members would share) with the companies in question. that's ethical, and to their financial detriment. like i say, better than most.

RobynLou · 09/02/2009 21:36

oh for christs sake ace!
you're being really rather silly now.
people make a living out of providing us with a service, when we joined up we signed away our 'copyright' to any statements made here as is the norm on the internet.

ace123 · 09/02/2009 21:57

Phil - 'so, 'Iwasashitemumbutamnotnow'how has mumsnet changed your life?

Iwasashitemum -
'well, I was feeding the bairn pedigree chum & kept it in a kennel, then I discovered mumsnet ... it's now fluent in Latin, can't understand a feckin word but am so grateful...'

keeeerching!
