Declaring AI posts

TeenToTwenties · 21/10/2026 16:02

Would it be a good idea to add to MN posting rules

  1. You may use AI to help formulate your opening post if you need help with organising your thoughts / want help with literacy but you must declare this at the start of your OP

  2. A follow up poster may post an AI version of a long / difficult to comprehend opening post but must declare at the start this is what they have done

  3. No other AI use is permitted when posting.

@cakeorwine I know you are a long standing poster, I recognise your username. Interestingly I have never noticed disruptive posting from you before so can't work out why you have decided to start now.

I did not say I was 100% confident you were AI. My exact quote was I'm 100% confident you have derailed it as far as I am concerned. which is different. It is also 100% true you have been using AI for various posts on this thread.

These 'sketches' you are posting are tedious and not in any way amusing to me.

You probably had something useful to add to the discussion, but amongst the waffle it has got lost sadly.

MNHQ — The Question That Hasn't Been Answered

TeenToTwenties · Today 06:46

One thing I have gained from this thread is to skip cake's posts in future Either posting AI drivel or her own.
At 23:49 she couldn't even be bothered to remove You might like to reference the OPs rules she suggested on a discussion thread in Site Stuff from her response.
If it had been 'real' posting it would have least have been You might like to reference the rules the OP posted at the start of the thread !

So you suggested that my post was an AI post because of the wording

Note to Audience - why did I say reference the OP rules she suggested on a discussion thread in Site Stuff.. Think about it

CakeorWine · 09:25
How much do you believe that is an AI post?
On a scale of 1 to 10?

TeenToTwenties · Today 08:08
I'm 100% confident you have derailed it as far as I am concerned.

You were asked if it was an AI post. You answered a different question

The material writes itselff

100% true - yes, AI has been writing the sketches. You have provided the material. I have edited them.

MNHQ — The Unanswered Question

Duck: “Professor, CakeorWine asked whether the witness still thought her posts were written by AI.”

Grokbottom: “And what did the witness say?”

Duck: “That she was 100% confident the thread had been derailed.”

Director: “Was that the question?”

Duck: “No.”

Director: “Did it answer the question?”

Grokbottom: “No.”

Duck: “She also said Cakeorwine has definitely been using AI.”

Director: “But the Chair has openly demonstrated that.”

Grokbottom: “Precisely.”

Director: “So we're distinguishing between being AI, using AI and derailing a thread?”

Duck: “Three different questions.”

Director: “And which one did Cakeorwine actually ask?”

Duck: “Whether the OP still thought she was AI.”

Director: “And the answer?”

Silence.
Grokbottom: “Still outstanding.”
The clerk writes: “Correction accepted. Original question unanswered.”

Director: “I suppose this will become another sketch.”

Duck: “It already has.”
The Chair reaches for her editorial pen. 🍋

I had to give up reading a thread the other day because of a posters boring as shit AI ramblings.

And they don’t grasp how tedious it comes across as. It’s like a substitute for a personality.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 23/10/2026 11:32

Just putting it on notice that I won’t be engaging with any highlarious courtroom scene grandstanding.

I have no idea if you're a real person @cakeorwine but my goodness you're presenting yourself as tedious in the extreme

I think it was a completely reasonable question. I’m sorry your thread was derailed by posters who think hackneyed use of AI makes posts interesting.

It’s not remotely funny, it’s hackneyed, crap AI slop and I’m not sure you’ve got much more self awareness than cakeorwine. It’s deeply tedious and obnoxious and these posts are completely making OP’s case for her.

thank you (I think!)
I have a lot of self-awareness - I also can see what @cakeorwine is doing which is gentle taking the p**s which is a fundamental of a lot of British humour - that they are using AI to help do that is as I mentioned above, a tool no more - although of course ironic and thus a part of the humour considering the discussion... AI is unlikely to come up with such responses unless the prompt already carries the germination of the idea / the type of humour / etc.

I also think as I posted in my last post that there is probably a limit to it - and what was funny eventually becomes not funny if carried on too long, or where the majority of the audience are not getting it... much like stand-up comedy...

I also think that one of the lovely things of a community like this - or as a reflection on British society - is the diversity of views and interests and how we deal with things - and as a part of that, we allow others to find funny what we might not - we don't control it.

You don't find it funny - I do - two views, I am not sure that is enough for your post which then gets personal and critical?

A perceptive observation

MNHQ — The Comedy Club Ethics Committee

Duck: “Professor, a member of the audience has asked when the comedian should stop.”

Grokbottom: “A reasonable question.”

Director: “Who decides?”

Duck: “The comedian says she does.”

Director: “And the audience?”

Duck: “They're supplying the material.”

Grokbottom: “But are they enjoying the performance?”

Duck: “Some apparently aren't.”

Director: “Then why don't they leave?”

Duck: “Because they came here for a discussion about AI.”

Director: “And what have they found?”

Grokbottom: “A discussion about AI conducted partly through comedy.”

Director: “So who's right?”

Grokbottom: “That's what they're discussing.”

Duck: “And the discussion is generating more material.”

The Director studies the programme.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 23/10/2026 11:39

When does the comedian stop the roast in a comedy club?

The comedian has control. And the audience is providing material

At the point when they start to lose some or most of the audience and realise that the lasting memory won't be the humour, but that they didn't know when to stop...

We went to see a few standup comedians last year - amongst whom was Jack Whitehall - superb. However he had a warm-up act (won't name him) who started well, but soon made the mistake of belabouring jokes which had fallen flat - rather as though he would continue until he had a laugh... in his case he got increasingly vulgar and started personally attacking members of the audience - all very uncomfortable. We left saying we would watch Jack Whitehall again, but never if the other chap was anywhere in the building - and we would never go to see him - which was a shame as some of his material was good and he was a local chap.

Comedy is all about timing - the start / the delivery / the finish

Meanwhile back in the courtroom
Duck: “Professor, the witness refuses to participate.”

Grokbottom: “Noted.”

Duck: “Cakeorwine has made her refusal part of the sketch.”

Director: “And?”

Duck: “The witness has returned to object.”

Director: “So she's participating?”

Grokbottom: “In a sketch about her refusal to participate.”

Director: “Can she leave?”

Duck: “Of course.”

Director: “What happens if she announces she's leaving?”

Grokbottom: “The sketch gets another line.”

The Director quietly closes the courtroom doors.

Director: “The lemon is in play.”

MNHQ — The Late Arrival
Duck: “Professor, we have a new witness.”

Grokbottom: “What has she observed?”

Duck: “Only the original post.”

Director: “Then how does she know what's happening?”

Duck: “She's just discovered the rest of the thread.”

Grokbottom: “And her assessment?”

Duck: “Awkward. Wants it stopped.”

Director: “The discussion?”

Duck: “Possibly.”

Director: “The sketches?”

Duck: “Possibly.”

Director: “The courtroom?”

Duck: “She hasn't been told about the courtroom yet.”

The Director looks towards the door.

Director: “Someone warn her.”

Duck: “Too late. She's in Exhibit 49.”

Megifer looks at the audience.

Megifer: “I only came here to discuss declaring AI posts.”

Grokbottom: “And now you're appearing in an AI-assisted sketch about declaring AI posts.”

Megifer: “Someone please make it stop.”

Director: “That's what the last witness said.”

Duck: “She's still here.”

The curtain falls.
Someone in the audience asks whether the curtain was AI-generated.

Thanks - you get exactly what I am doing'

The thing is - I have put posts on that are not sketches and show the advantages and disadvantages of AI

People have accused me of derailing. I put up a summary of my posts and no one has actually backed up their accusation

People can discuss the pros and cons easily . But they keep attacking the person rather than engaging with the OPs subject and subsequent posts on it

I don't think the OP has thought much about her question

She is however an excellent source of material
