@MNHQ
Why so much hate on MN?
Posters hiding behind complaints about the government, presenting themselves as reasonable actors, to push hate about asylum seekers, people with disabilities, benefit claimants..Mostly the same names all day everyday.
I am told to report - MN just not interested.
I am told to hide the thread..
Why isn't moderation better?
I know this will always exist and exists on other platforms but MN makes no effort to even try to anything about it.
You can't really sell MN as a caring, supportive site with all this stuff offered on a daily basis in active.

Sorry, I missed the please in your post I replied to.

Maybe I simply didn’t see it?

Are the flowers a way of admitting you don’t like using please and thank you?

The Telegraph might be printing it to remind everyone, even those in wealthier area that they, too, are entitled to claim PIP.

Nothing wrong with that.

I wondered why The Guardian would go with that story when I saw an alert. Read it and saw the rich areas line was why.

As Pip isn’t means tested selling in a review and cash changes will impact everyone regardless of income.

It’s an own goal in that way but the rich areas / people line is too attractive. It’ll help Burnham too as Labour MPs could oppose.

No, just sending you support. No need to say thanks or please

Isn't it nice to spread some joy

So much nicer than to complain about PIP

TemperanceWest · 26/09/2026 10:39

It would be completely counterproductive and very expensive to means test PIP, so I don't think that will happen. Although possibly an income ceiling could be applied.

Services instead of cash is pie in the sky if the services don't exist. Osborne tried something similar and was shot down in flames by his own party.

When is the final Timms report out?

DuncinToffee · 26/09/2026 10:43

I don't understand why this thread has become about PIP.

KateDibi · 26/09/2026 10:47

The thread is about purported ‘hate’ on MN, which includes alleged ‘benefit bashing’.

Personally keen to debunk that with bona fide data/media.

Edit: Other types of ‘hate’ are of course, available.

DuncinToffee · 26/09/2026 10:51

Keen to debunk the alleged PIP fraud and subsequent bashing of claimants, I appreciate that.

KateDibi · 26/09/2026 10:57

Absolutely, and perfectly understandable.

Hence the back and forth posts.

This is clearly a dynamic topic, given the forthcoming final Timms review.

That happens in a lot of threads right now. Either PIP or small boats.

Yes Labour too will be briefing and pitch rolling hence more articles.

On the other topic Labour don’t like to see mentioned, it is a problem for them.

I am sure you have high hopes for the Timms review. Will its publication affect gilt yields? I understand you are an expert in that area.

What?

KateDibi · 26/09/2026 11:03

Not bothered by the small boats, tbh.

But, at the risk of sounding childish, you started it. Posters were discussing generally how MN is moderated / free speech/ arguing and you came along and plopped in something about benefit claimants as if the OP was asking 'what groups do you hate and why?' as if you thought you should be able to justify yourself.

I didn't get it at the time and still don't but I guess people will keep on engaging with you.

The OP started the thread with.

Why so much hate on MN?
Posters hiding behind complaints about the government, presenting themselves as reasonable actors, to push hate about asylum seekers, people with disabilities, benefit claimants..Mostly the same names all day everyday.

I am addressing the highlighted.

Surely, the answer to your post is to ignore the poster, hide the thread, scroll on by, or start your own thread?

Piggywaspushed · 26/09/2026 11:07

Using private healthcare doesn't take pressure off the NHS. That is a myth.

Why are NHS hospitals outsourcing some services to the private sector then?
If it does not take some pressure off then it’s a complete waste of money.

Piggywaspushed · 26/09/2026 11:25

The conversation was about making one's own appointments, not Choose and Book.

If you are seeing a consultant in a private clinic he or she usually also works for the NHS. Most prioritise their more lucrative work . They can't be in two places at once.

Exactly. My cataract surgery was done at the end of my surgeon’s shift in the same theatre.as the NHS patients he’d operated in all day. It didn’t take any pressure off the NHS. I guess it benefited from the fee he paid them for theatre use.

Most consultants I see work privately in the evening.

I’m not taking away time for their NHS work and I pay for it.

When NHS hospitals outsource surgery then they do during working hours and they pay for it.

Well, if everyone followed your logic, there would be no more MN, would there?

And where would some of us be then?

LizzieW1969 · 26/09/2026 12:13

We went private in order to get DD1 and epilepsy diagnosis, it was just too long a wait on the NHS! Now she’s on medication, we’re back with the NHS.
