Font size?

On the app on an iPad, the font size is now tiny. Is there a way to make it bigger? Even with reading glasses, it is hard to read and much smaller then my other apps

I updated the app on my phone earlier today and noticed this. The font size is now ludicrously small. I’m having to practically squint to read it. It was perfect pre-update.

iPhone 13 mini
OS Version: 18.4
App Version: 45.0.12
Build Number: 108

When the app was first launched the opposite complaint of massive text caused issues and a poster suggested this fix for iOS users.

Go to accessibility settings
scroll to bottom - “per-app settings”
Choose mumsnet
Under “Larger text” drag to adjust to desired size.

this method doesn’t change anything apart from the chosen app. I also used ‘smart invert’ to flip the colour to a dark mode.

Thank you so much for this. It worked & is a lot easier to read now!

That works - it accesses larger fonts than the normal dynamic sizing. But with the text at a nice size, the thread titles are now too big so hardly any fit on a screen and makes that aspect work less well. They don’t need to be bigger than the text.

LIZS · 15/04/2025 17:15

I’ve done this and while less hard on the eyes to read threads, the layout and titles feel unbalanced.

SilvieBear · 15/04/2025 19:28

Thanks @coffeeaddict83 that does help with the thread content. But I agree @LIZSthe titles are out of whack.
@AmeliaPMumsnetwhat did you change with the update that affected the font?

Longma · 16/04/2025 07:05

I have just done that and the body of text is now much better.
The titles and the active posts list is too big now but it’ll have to do if MN won’t acknowledge the issue further

Thanks @parietal - that's all really useful info. And thank you to everyone who has sent screenshots, too. What we really need to know now is which apps are ending up 'too big' when Mumsnet is legible. Lots of users were saying that if they adjusted their own settings to make Mumsnet big enough to read, their other apps were ending up really huge.

We've tried to bring Mumsnet in line with other apps as it sounded like it was reading 'small', so what we'd like to know is which 'other' apps are appearing bigger than ours once Mumsnet is adjusted to be a big enough font to read comfortably. We've tried to match to some of the major ones like WhatsApp, Facebook and Gmail, so it would be really useful to see which ones aren't a similar display font to ours.

Thanks in advance

If I make MN legible, then Facebook is too big on my iPad.

sunnydayswim · 04/07/2025 22:51

What is going on with this tiny font size! Are you wanting to loose readers? I find it surprising something so basic can be so wrong. I’m going to have to stop reading unless it changes back to being readable.

It's not just about the App though @HebeMumsnet . I access mumsnet via a chrome browser app on a Samsung android and similarly if I put the accessibility settings up high to make mumsnet just about legible, other websites are ridiculously over-magnified.

notnorman · 04/07/2025 23:21

Awful I have to wear reading glasses now to read the posts

BeckyAMumsnet · 05/07/2025 16:20

Hello - please can you ensure you're on the most updated version of the app? Check the app store and it should show if there's an update. Thank you.

LIZS · 05/07/2025 17:59

Mine is and font is tiny (image from ipad mini for reference)

I am on the latest version of the app. I popped back tonight to see if it had changed and it hasn’t. It is so much smaller than any other app. I’m off. I can’t visit a site that I can’t read and that doesn’t get its user base.

LIZS · 06/07/2025 11:11

@HebeMumsnet and this is the active conversations page as a comparison to the thread font size below. Adjusted it in settings as per previous advice.
