The app isn’t working properly on iPad

It looks like the app has autoupdated to the new version - the Active/watching etc buttons are now at the top rather than the bottom which is much less easy to use. But the big problem is that I can read but not reply or start a new thread (I’m having to do this in the browser which is much less easy to read) and none of the settings buttons seem to be responding,

I logged out and in again, that didn’t help.

I'm the same, I use my IPad all the time and now can't reply without quoting. Haven't tried a new post but can't see how I can.
More and more people use iPads and iPhones to access the site, what's the point if you can't post!

My iPad has background app refresh turned on but my iPhone doesn't because I don't want the phone trying to automatically update things via data. I'd imagine many people have their settings that way. I'm not going to update the phone app to find out if it's affected too.

I have the same issues - the buttons are now in an un user-friendly position at the top of the screen and Reply doesn’t work.

im on an iPad running iOS 18.3.1.

Reply button at top does nothing so I always have to quote to reply. Not able to add a new post to discussion

I'm having the same trouble on the iPad app, the new and reply buttons don't work.

I've posted this from my phone rather than iPad and that's still working fine.

My phone app is up to date and still works, no change to button locations or anything

I'm glad I've seen this. I thought I was going mad this morning! The app on my iPad has this issue. The app on my android phone doesn't.

Also having same problem, I wasn't about an hour ago. Just popped back on and I am the same. Everything up the top of the page now (so annoying) and can't reply either without quoting.

I can't help but wonder if those tabs have been moved to the top to draw people's eyes towards the ads. I don't like this tiny typing window either. Grrr ...

Hello all. It looks like the recent iPadOS 18 update has caused some compatibility issues with our app, particularly with the menu. Previously, the menu was at the bottom of the app, but the update seems to have moved it to the top, making it difficult for you to access.

We’re going to pick this up first thing on Monday and work out next steps. In the meantime, we’re really sorry for the frustration this is causing. Since this wasn’t a change we made to the app itself, the only workaround for now is to access Mumsnet via a different device (such as a phone or desktop).

I can cope with the menu at the top, but an inability to post a reply rather defeats the object of the site!

The fact that when you look for the OPs post they only come up in a pop up box is an issue too. It's harder to read

It's not quite that bad, I'm swapping between the app for reading and the browser version in Safari if I want to do a new post. App users have to do that anyway to do editing etc of course - it's inconvenient but doesn't require another device.

Anyway thanks for the info Becky. I'm a bit surprised, I thought the last iOS update was a few weeks ago.

Okay I can reply on the app without quoting.
But....only if I quote the a post, then press the 'x' in the corner of the quote, that seems to clear the quote and allows me to post. It's a bit convoluted though!
