Google chrome keeps freezing - only on MN?

When I use MN on my Sony Xperia 10 VI 5g using Google Chrome it keeps freezing. If I use any other websites on my phone or browse MN on Google Chrome on my Chromebook, it doesn't freeze, ever.

Everything's up to date and my phone is new

Any ideas please?

No ideas, but same happening to me on Samsung Galaxy. No problems with any other websites.

I think it's something to do with the ads. It makes MN unusable, sometimes.

Also happens to me on Samsung S21. Only started quite recently, last month or so?

Definitely started about a month ago and also Samsung, and also only on MN.
What's going on?

I've had this on and off with Edge on Windows. It's okay at the moment but Edge will say "Mumsnet is not responding" and the page hangs.

Thanks for posting this, I thought my IPAD was in its way out - it’s happening on Safari for me.
No issues with any other web pages.

Happening to me on Windows laptop.

There are several other threads in Site Stuff that have been running for months about the exact same issue. It’s not a new issue.

Same happens on my Samsung S22+ but not on my Samsung A9+ tablet. Thought it was a fault with the phone and tried clearing cache etc, glad to know it's not just my phone.

Mine too on my Nokia (it's a smart phone honest), Google Chrome it's been happening for days I assumed it was my phone. I keep getting the option to wait or close Chrome.

Same here, on my iPhone. Every time I try and go on Mumsnet it happens, it becomes unresponsive. It doesn’t happen on any other website.

Happens to me all the time. Just close MN down and restart works, but shouldn't have to!

Oh how funny I get this all the time. I was blaming the laptop. OH has run all the updates and cleaners or whatevber it is people do

I have to restart the whole laptop, all the tabs at the top become unresponsive too, I cant just close down MN

Interesting, I thought all the freezing on Safari was down to the new iOS but you’ve got me wondering.

Before anyone says it, no I don’t use the app for MN. I don’t want everything on an app

Same here, Dell laptop, chrome browser. Have to restart, all tabs become unresponsive. Laptop fan always starts blowing like crazy before it locks up.

Same issue on safari on iphone.

I had that on my iPhone on Chrome but it stopped when I switched to reading MN on Safari.

Same here, I had an ancient phone and assumed it was just that but I have just switched to a new model and it still keeps doing it.

While I'm here can I also add that the 'Thanks' button is also dodgy, and the tagging posters scrolly thing is driving me to distraction!

How apt! I just came back to edit to add that it is being particularly frequent tonight and guess what - it crashed again 😆
