Amazon Ad's

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 10/08/2024 10:20

Every time I'm scrolling on a thread with an Amazon ad, it clicks through to Amazon with the slightest of touches. It's happening constantly and making Mumsnet unusable. I already have Amazon so is bloody pointless anyway.

Yes keeps happening to me too. It's a pain.

FedUpWithBriiiiick · 11/08/2024 07:30

Me too!

EltonJohnsSunglasses · 11/08/2024 07:33

I was just about to start a post on this and saw this one. It's infuriating, it's making using the app to read threads a real chore. I'm surprised there hasn't been more feedback about this, Mumsnet HQ, please sort this out!

DuffRose · 11/08/2024 07:40

Yes like you said the slightest touch so annoying

Oblomov24 · 11/08/2024 07:52

Driving me nutty too. It's too sensitive. I'm trying to scroll but I'm on Amazon 15 times per thread. Please @mnhq.

brimfulofpacha · 11/08/2024 08:00

Me too, sometimes I could swear I've not even touched the bloody ad!

Junestwitchyeye · 11/08/2024 08:03

Yes me too!

Mxflamingnoravera · 11/08/2024 10:55

And me. Really annoying and would never cause me to pause and start shopping, so please, Mumsnet, make the ad less sensitive or include fewer of them if they have to be there.

MadamWillYouTalk · 11/08/2024 13:17

Me too! It doesn't happen with any of the other mid-thread adverts in the app, and it's infuriating!

DawnMumsnet · 12/08/2024 10:04

Hi @NaturalBlondeYeahRight (and everyone else who's experiencing this) - please can you let us know which device you're using and if you're using the app or the mobile site?

Thanks in advance.

iPhone 7s on the app.

It's infuriating! And it's not as if I'm not aware of this niche online boutique called Amazon and just need to be nudged through its little-known doorway to discover the delights within...

DawnMumsnet · 12/08/2024 10:58

Thanks all. We're looking into this and will be back with an update as soon as we can.

PJ04JCW · 12/08/2024 11:46

Plus have just done a firmer swipe on the Papa John advert and it didn't click through, so the Amazon ad is definitely more sensitive.

DawnMumsnet · 12/08/2024 12:23

Hi again, is anyone able to do a screen recording so we can see what's going on please? You can mail it to us as an attachment at contactus@mumsnet.com if you'd rather not post on the thread.

WhereIsMyWhippetAndFlatcap · 12/08/2024 12:23

I was coming to site stuff to see if anyone else was having issue with this. So annoying, especially in long threads and it's happening many times.

iPhone 14, app and latest OS update.

MadamWillYouTalk · 12/08/2024 13:18

iPhone XR, using the app. No idea how to do a screen recording! But basically as I scroll the thread upwards, if I touch any part of the Amazon advert (with a moving finger - a scrolling action not a selecting one) it automatically opens the Amazon app on my phone. I close Amazon, go back to the Mumsnet app and it then automatically opens an Amazon page in Safari instead. I close that, go back the Mumsnet app again and it allows me to carry on scrolling.

Given the proportion of screen space the mid-thread adverts take up, it's very frustrating as you have to be so careful not to touch it. This doesn't happen with other adverts.

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 13/08/2024 08:12

iPhone 14 in app - iPhone fully updated
Don't know how to record on iPhone but I've just watched the sequence again on a thread.
You are just scrolling, the lightest scroll near an Amazon ad sends you straight through to Amazon on safari. I've scrolled on other ads deliberately and it doesn't do the same thing.

Me too, it's really annoying. You don't even have to touch the ad just scroll past it and it flicks through to Amazon.
