This started about 3 weeks ago with constant crashing. Now it’s freezing too and taking ages to load,

I don’t get the freezing but I do get the constant reloading and refreshing of the page - is this part of the same thing? I have to constantly bookmark as I’m reading si that when it refreshes I get back to somewhere near where I was.

Hello,

If you're still experiencing issues with this, please can you let us know if you've tried clearing you cache and cookies yet?

Yes I have and it’s still an issue

I also had an issue a few days ago where my battery drained really quickly which caused issues when I was out of the house. Thought it was a phone issue but wondering after reading comments on here if it’s to do with MN

Have now closed all MN tabs that I had open and only have one which is in private mode (which isn’t great either but marginally better than regular mode)

Ginisatonic · 20/08/2024 12:45

The constant reloading is very annoying.

I’m still getting this issue. I use Safari on an ipad but have trie Chrome and my macbook. All ios are uptodate.

so annoying.

EatCrow · 20/08/2024 15:25

Same problem. It’s so bad that I have to clear my safari history every now and again as it’s slowing everything up. I believe it’s the ads taking up so much bandwidth.

HotDogJumpingFrogAlbuquerque · 20/08/2024 15:50

Same problem as everyone else - safari on ipad

Def something to do with the ads on mine as when or if they load it’s fine to scroll but most of the time it just freezes everything and then I’m unable to load any other web pages

Can also confirm issue with battery draining when MN pages are open

Can also confirm once MN pages all closed no issues at all with other web pages or battery

Yes to still having issues.
We’ve all done the above and it’s still awful. You just keep popping on to ask if we’ve ‘tried turning it off and on again’ when we’ve already said we have, and the issues are still happening!

KimberleyClark · 21/08/2024 10:47

Happening to me too iPad mini 6th generation,IOS 17.5.1.

Not sure there's much RTFT going on!

Yes, the battery on mine too. It can’t be good for iPads. It has to be the adverts.

In the wonderful days of advanced technology, turning it off and on again,….😡

I’ve now started to have trouble logging in on the private pages.

I don’t understand why my I phone is fine with MN, but my I Pad isn’t? I don’t have problems on other websites with ads!

HideTheCroissants · 22/08/2024 14:20

I honestly thought it was my iPad! I cleared everything. Tried Chrome (usually use Safari). Typed a long (and I was hoping helpful) post to someone needing help and the page reloaded and I had to start again - TWICE. Tried on laptop but same issue. All other websites are fine.

EasternStandard · 22/08/2024 14:21

I have given up on my iPhone even after clearing cookies etc it just made the whole Chrome and Safari unusable

MNHQ how's it going? Any ideas on the issue

EasternStandard · 22/08/2024 14:22

To add it's pretty lucky this thread was started I just thought it was my phone, I didn't connect it to mn at all

Normallynumb · 22/08/2024 14:36

Battery on my iPhone is draining again and handset feels hot to touch
Full battery to 10% in 21/2 hours
I thought this had been resolved
Only happens on Mumsnet so it's not my phone.

Flossflower · 22/08/2024 14:41

It freezes for me too on my iPad but not on my iPhone. It seems to be when trying to load ads. On my iPad it loads the ads before you can continue on the iPhone it continues without the ad unloaded. I do not use any sort of ad blocker

ShikShakShok · 23/08/2024 08:31

My iPhone is not fine. I can’t use MN on my iPhone unless it’s on private mode. When I accidentally open it normally, it freezes.

I’ve come on MN less these past few weeks but it also completely drained the battery of my new iPhone. I thought it was my phone until I saw others experienced it too and my phone battery has been better since I came on less.

LoobyDoop2 · 23/08/2024 20:24

Every single time I scroll past an advert, on every single thread, the page freezes and then reloads back to the top of the thread. The site is barely usable.

Butterflyfluff · 23/08/2024 22:02

It’s definitely due to lots of animated adverts - ironic that the source of income actually prevents people from using the site 🤔

Abouttimeforanamechange · 24/08/2024 14:08

I'm now getting the Siemens ad demanding I 'rotate my screen' and throwing me out of the thread. This is new, as of the last couple of days, not part of the ongoing issue.

Lillygolightly · 25/08/2024 09:21

The constant reloading of the page is really extremely annoying, as is having to find your place again on the page as the majority of the time once it eventually reloads it kicks you back to the top of the page.

I get so frustrated that I leave the site as this just happening so often. I’m spending less and less time here, which I am sure is the absolute opposite of what mumsnet wants.

Mumsnet I get the reason for having the adverts I really do, but these adverts are interfering with the site to such a degree that it’s rendering it barely functional! Not to mention the other browser and battery issues they are creating. Seeing that this complaint has been going on a matter of weeks now and nothing has changed, it really doesn’t inspire confidence that this will be resolved.

I hate to complain, but this really is awful, I’ve been a mumsnet user for at least 15 years or more and I cannot recall a time when the site was this frustrating to use. I hope you solve it.

Itisjustmyopinion · 25/08/2024 11:07

Yes this! Also it seems to longer highlight what threads you have previously read anymore which is extremely annoying
