Constantly crashing and freezing.

This started about 3 weeks ago with constant crashing. Now it’s freezing too and taking ages to load,

Is this issue ever going to be sorted?

Yes particularly bad at the moment.

Each thread seems to auto-reload or crash midway through reading - hard to even get through a thread let alone move to page 2

Still happening. What was the point of the survey if nothing is done? For me, it seems to be threads causing this. Pretty frustrating.

Between this pop up ad with no X and the constant crashing the website is completely unusable.

Can’t use on safari on phone but if I go through Facebook on my phone to the mumsnet page and the link it runs fine there. Completely crashes all browsers on safari.

It has been freezing for me too, for the last few weeks. I thought is was an issue with my computer but it doesn't happen when using any other site.

Using desktop, Google Chrome.

Does that for me too. If I don't have MN open no problems at all.

Could we please get an update from the powers that be on this?

We're so sorry that these issues are still affecting many of you. We're still investigating and looking into solutions but unfortunately there are multiple possible causes.

Here are some troubleshooting options which have helped some of you:

• If your thread view is set to 1000 posts per page - switch to 25

• If you're running an ad blocker - try turning it off

• Clear cache and cookies for Mumsnet site only

Some specific ads appear to be causing problems for some of you and we're trying to pinpoint the culprits.

Here are instructions for turning off Privacy Preserving Ad Management. This might help some Safari users -

Privacy Preserving Ad Management

1. Go to your settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
2. Go to ‘Apps’.
3. Go to Safari.
4. Scroll to the bottom of Safai settings and click ‘Advanced’.
5. Turn ‘Privacy Preserving Ad Measurement’ off.
6. Close Safari, reopen it and see if Mumsnet works any better.

Except I can’t open the survey because MN freezes anything I try to open!
I have to swipe everything off screen, close MN, shut down my iPad completely and then unlock it and re open safari.
Every. Single. Time.

Tried all of that Justine. Still the same but private browsing on my iPad does work.

Mines still doing it too. I use Chrome though not safari. MN is unusable without an ad blocker, you cannot read a paragraph in peace.

Chrome does recover after being swiped off and relaunched though.

The irony that this thread freezes whilst trying to read it is not lost on me.

And doing the PPAM thing hasn’t helped here, at all.

Been happening to me since last night. Android phone / Chrome browser.

Mumsnet has been freezing for me for the last month. I'd put it down to my phone being old or not having enough memory space, but after updating everything, deleting stuff to make room and clearing various caches it hasn't made a difference. And doesn't happen on other sites.

Then I found this thread.

At present,once it freezes it won't unfreeze without closing and restarting chrome, when it will work okay for a while before doing it again. The ads haven't really been a problem, but if they're overlarge I can't always tell if it's frozen or just can't find where to scroll up.

Mine was an issue back in the summer.
Without changing anything, it stated behaving properly.
The last week or 2, it's started again.
I'd suggest it's something that is happening st MNHQ rather than sonething on my phone.

It’s taken me about 20 minutes just to post on this thread to report the same. It is making the site impossible to use, not enjoyable and very frustrating! Everything freezes, doesn’t load and crashes constantly.

Same here. It just freezes like it’s waiting for the ads to load. I’ve nearly given up bothering with it now.

I had problems with constant freezing cause by ads several months ago, which seemed to have resolved itself. At the time I found that minimising and then maximising the window would sometimes unstick things.

But now I am finding it's constantly freezing again but this time it seems unrelated to ads and the only think I can do is close the browser and relaunch. So frustrating.
