Low Carb Recipes

I was wondering if it would be possible to have a thread for low carb recipes, in the weight loss section? Could be used for both the Bootcamp and Low Carb topics.

We currently have separate recipe threads in the Bootcamp topic (organised by food type, e.g. meat or poultry or vegetarian, but they keep getting lost in the list of other topics.

Having them all in one, dedicated topic would make them much easier to find.

What do you think?

I’d appreciate a low carb recipe section away from other types of recipes. A couple of reasons for this from me:

  1. LCHF isn’t about weight loss in many many cases. I do need to lose weight, but more than that I need to get my PCOS and IR under control sharpish.
  2. It’s such a different way of eating from SW, WW, CC etc I don’t think people on diets particularly support or want to stumble on our recipes. I know when I was struggling on high carb diets it would have been unhelpful.
  3. Many low carbers eat this way for an extremely long time and dipping back in to the boot camp or LC topic when you’re already a pro is annoying. It would be good to have somewhere where anyone can post LC recipes and you can dip in and out of without having to scroll back through endless threads.

I think the weight loss and diet section of the site needs an overhaul generally, there’s a lot of totally dead topics that don’t get used at all. Cleaning some of those up to make room for an LC recipe topic (and a SW recipe topic etc) makes sense.

I’d use a low carb recipe topic and think it’s a great idea.

whinsome · 31/01/2024 07:29

I’d definitely use a low carb recipe section. Great idea!

alwaysclockwise · 31/01/2024 07:41

Yes please for a separate LC recipies topic!
It will be useful for so many of us.

Podgedodge · 31/01/2024 07:49

Yes please to low carb recipes.
Great idea

Thesoundofmusic23 · 31/01/2024 08:03

I’d use a LC recipe area and would help me stick to this WOE long term. Thanks mumsnet,

Auntiesitting · 31/01/2024 08:06

I think it’s a great idea. As well as people low carbing for weight loss others who low carb/keto for health reasons would use it too.

cathyandclaire · 31/01/2024 08:31

I'd appreciate this. I'm a long-time low carber ( 12 years) and the recipes often get lost in the super-fast bootcamp threads.

RestingCatsArseFace · 31/01/2024 12:02

I gave up searching on here for low carb recipes because I couldn't find any due to the muddle of diets on the same threads.

Made even more difficult because I search for vegetarian low carb.

So, yes I would like to see this please.

Didn't we used to have a Mumsnet user recipes area separate from Talk or am I making it up?

I remember finding a cupcake brownie one and my daughters making them on their own rather a lot when they were small. So you could even have a separate tab and entire area for recipes, perhaps between "Parenting" and "Swears By".

lurknolinger · 31/01/2024 14:21

Another one who would appreciate a dedicated Low Carb recipe thread

Yes you're right - there was a whole section for recipes, all user-tested/reviewed, I seem to recall! Not quite sure when/why they disappeared.
