Why can’t I change back to compact view?

It’s ok, button to change was missing when I went into board via old post, but when I clicked on “gardening” at top of post to get back to list of posts, I got the button back

Hi @MereDintofPandiculation we can see (from clicking on the Edited tab) that you've answered your own question here, so hopefully the problem's now resolved.
