Love the funny ones, that woman's husband who had a thing for saucepans and she caught him with the knife sharpener was quite possibly the funniest thing i have ever read on here

You may have a point. . Sometimes I see a thread and I think "hmm a troll" - it is then entirely up to me whether I post or not, obviously. Often I just lurk and occasionally as others have said they can be amusing.

Some people are a little too vigilant in trying to "out" trolls. If someone's typing isn't perfect (not you Cod!) and they don't seem to "get" mumsnet for example. There is a newish mnetter who happens to be a little younger than most of us and she has been falsely accused of being a troll which is a bit unfair.

Mercy · 26/02/2008 13:10

I know what you mean but some people do get emotionally involved and I think one or 2 trolls set out to do that so it is a form of taking.

It is rather compelling I admit.

ANd nobody emails me with their suspicions or copies of saved threads [boohoo]

DualCycloneCod · 26/02/2008 13:10

folks twho get involved need to haev a LONG HARD LOOK AT THEI INTERNET USAGE

OP posts:
Boco · 26/02/2008 13:10

I like the silly ones very much.

I didn't like the fake death - people were actually upset and it was not nice. It's a lot less serious if you're not in a similar situation though - not nice for people who had been through dv or prem birth.

GetOrfMoiLand · 26/02/2008 13:11

Couple of weeks ago was a thread that went to christ knows how many posts, about a woman who was pissed off with her bro in law because her 8 month old wasn't allowed to go into a wedding ceremony. The OP got all het up - was she a troll?

In any case it was a roaring laugh.

When I was a newbie there was a load of brouhaha about Mozhe, water skiing in Barbados 2 weeks post partum. Was she a troll as well (or just a real nutter?)

CatIsSleepy · 26/02/2008 13:11

Re sending money. Perhaps people should be a little less hasty and remember this is an open forum on the internet. None of us may be who we say we are! It's a bit different (imo) if you enter e-mail/CAT correspondence with someone and get to know them slightly better.

DualCycloneCod · 26/02/2008 13:11

and the directions from tie rack

that was a cricial part of her detection

boudoiricca · 26/02/2008 13:12

I have to say I think the recent 'incident' was blindingly obvious and anyone with an ounce of common sense would have seen through it fairly quickly. Best to just ignore rather than be insanely reactionary in either supporting or denouncing?!

DualCycloneCod · 26/02/2008 13:12

ok list the threads that coem AFETR an unmasking...

  1. how cna we stop trolls?

i say DONT STTOP EM
