Problem accessing DMs

I use a laptop for MN and have not had this problem before but today all I can see is the top third or so of the private message screen with no way of scrolling down to see the actual DM - so I can reply to a DM but not see what the actual message is.

I've got this problem too, am using the AVG addon to google's browser. The notifications screen is fine, as are all the other pages on your site.

I'm experiencing same problem - I've PMs to view and unable to scroll down sufficiently to read them, I only know who has sent them. I'm using Firefox, and Windows 10. New to this site but at this rate it may be a short lived visit. Never experienced this anywhere else.

@LilyMumsnet I can't clear my cache as I can't scroll down to find a delete button - all I can access are the block user and mark all as read buttons at the top of the page. It seems to be the only page on MN that has this problem - all the others have a scroll down bar on the far right of the page but this page doesnt and I also can't scroll down using the up down arrows or the scroll function on a mouse.

@Cheapncheer welcome; hopefully they'll sort it quickly, they're usually quite good on stuff like this and it's a new problem.

Hello @londonmummy1966 Please can you go to any Firefox page:

  1. Click the menu button to open the menu panel.
  2. Click History and select Clear Recent History….
  3. Next to Time range to clear, choose Everything from the drop-down menu, select Cache in the items list, make sure other items you want to keep are not selected, and then click the OK button.
Let us know if that works. @Cheapncheer could you try this too, please?

@lifesabitchandthenyoudie have you cleared the cache?

Please bear with us, we'll try and get it sorted ASAP.

I did clear my cache, yes; but by accident I found something... I clicked on 'show side panel' at the top right toolbar of my browser (AVG secure browser, it looks like the google one) and the DM page shows up properly. Each thread was listed and I could click on them to see the messages, and scroll through. Only with my 'side panel' showing though. HTH

@lifesabitchandthenyoudie - sadly that doesn't seem to work in FIrefox. I think it is a site problem as all my other Mumsnet pages have sliding scroll bar on the right of the screen but the DM page doesn't.

I regularly clear my history including cache but didn't make any difference. I then came out of Firefox and went back in with Microsoft Edge - not alot of difference but with perseverance I was just about able to pick up my messages so although problem still exists I managed to do what I needed to do. Thanks for input

I managed to go in via Chrome rather than FIrefox and although the problem is still there I was able to access the sidebar in the same way as life'sabitch and review my messages that way. Bit of a faff though so it would be good if the page was fixed.

I have exactly the same problem. I have two laptops. Can't see or access any DMs on either of them. I just see the top bit of the page (see screenshot)
Chrome Win10. Same on any other browser.

I can't find that 'show side panel' to access any messages.

It's been like this for a couple of weeks now. .

This is a screenshot of all I can get. You will see in the pic I have scrolled down, so that's the extent of it.

Morning, everyone. We're really sorry this is still an issue. It is going to be fixed. We'll see if we can find out more about when and let you know.

In the meantime, if anyone has a PM they can't see and are happy for us to cut and paste it to them privately, post here, then report your post to us letting us know you're happy for us to fish about in your PMs, and we can go in and find it for you and email you with it.

My mistake; looking back it looks like a fix was released for this on 11th July. Clearly that's not working for some of you, however. Bear with us and we'll see if we can work out what's going on here.

Deffo not working for me! I would say it has been quite a few weeks now, not sure how long as I don't get many DMs, so don't go and look. But I did want to send one the other day, it was impossible!

Thanks for all the tips, my screen is the same as Rousette's screen whether I use Firefox or Edge but I've managed to read the gist of my messages.

Showing my ignorance, what is a screen recording?

I have sent it as footage to contactus@mumsnet. It shows what happens when I click on private messages. I've addressed it to you Lily 👍
