MN needs a closer watch of FWR

There is a concerning growth of posts with racist undertones cropping up on these boards, all under the guise of being proudly 'anti-woke'.

Apparently diversity is 'woke' and worthy of derision.

This is the thread I'm referring to here.

Disney went woke now they're going broke www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/4836570-disney-went-woke-now-theyre-going-broke

Mumsnet needs to looks at why that board draws such types of posts, and why posters feel so comfortable openly airing their racism.

There is some discussion of grooming gangs (see the two Suella Braverman threads) and this has been largely in response to media reporting. I think FWR should be discussing grooming gangs and it is not racist to do so.

I'm in France too, maybe what we're seeing is completely different to what everyone else is seeing!

I'm sure that is the case, and that it isn't another person telling us what we should be talking about whilst simultaneously not talking about the thing they want us to talk about themselves. That would never happen.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 02/07/2023 08:45

FWR also regularly discusses Jimmy Saville.

Do you think defacing Pride flags could be considered as homophobic by the gay community?

Like the Progress flag?

AlisonDonut · 02/07/2023 08:50

I have often seen comparisons about grooming from all different sources, the term 'sacred caste' is often used and has been for years, about the mirroring of exactly what happened in the Catholic Church being repeated in modern society.

The Muslim grooming gangs are often mentioned with regards to the behaviour of the police in regards to 'those who they mustn't be seen to upset' and which is being mirrored in their targetting of women and those who believe in the two biological sexes.

Comparisons are made where the behaviour seems to be the same, and plenty of discussion is had about how this has been effected.

lljkk · 02/07/2023 08:52

I'm very tired of every single sodding issue on MN being made into an story of "men always oppressing women"

Can't find clothes to suit a pear shape? "It's the fault of the menz who run clothes companies & fail to appreciate female shapes!"
Can only find clothes to fit pear shapes in the shops? "It's the fault of the men who run clothes companies & don't care if women have clothes that fit well!"

Can't deal with emotional colleague? "It's the fault of the men who think women should suffer and be an emotional crutch!"
Can't talk about your emotionally difficult experience at work? "It's the fault of men expecting male-mentality environments where people aren't emotionally literate!"

Flipping relentless. I can hide FWR topic but their creepy prejudices and obsessions end up permeating every other thread.

Indeed. And I'm pretty sure I've expressed the view (in response to a poster saying that Ireland has self ID so what's the problem) that Ireland is a country with a pretty appalling record on women's rights due to being in the grip of a misogynistic religion, and it appears that that misogynistic religion is now being replaced by another.

In other news, FWR posters also have the magic ability to sour milk and stop the bread from rising.

In all seriousness, this post is ... wacky.

@alloutofluck
Good of you to try, but when FWR regulars have said amongst the back slapping of how smart, well educated and awesomely well spoken they are that there is no racism or islamaphobia on FWR that they’ve seen and demand links and examples- you have now learned what many of us already know that anything you bring back will be rubbished and you told you are mistaken, or it will be quickly blamed on trolls. It’s how these discussions usually go.

Deny racism exists
Ask for evidence
Rubbish as much evidence as you can
When the evidence cannot be rubbished, blame trolls
Lecture on how it’s an open forum and racist trolls are to be expected
Assert again that there’s no racism
Ask for more evidence

Rinse and repeat

Thats why they were “still waiting” for “examples” that’s step 1 of the deny, obfuscate and blame others play book.

They also know that the examples of overt racism will have been reported and deleted so most of the evidence no longer exists to be screen shotted or linked.

midgetastic · 02/07/2023 09:13

No one denied racism exists - how funny

What they deny is that it's particularly and especially prevalent on FWR which is one of the most heavily regulated boards

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 02/07/2023 09:15

If someone posts you can’t change sex it’s a fact not a political alliance

//

Agree. And conflation's with the statement being homophobic are so lazy. Same sex attraction requires nothing from anyone else. Language remains as it is. Others are not forced to lie to support it. Young people are not enthusiastically encouraged to go on medical pathways. Womens safe spaces remain. Women and girls places in sports stay just for them.

True and uncompromising support of trans rights to the extent that means they can "live their authentic lives" requires women and young people to move along. That's not right.

Exactly. I think a common theme has also been that posters calling out racism on FWR should be more concerned about other areas of MN and especially AIBU, Chat and the Royal Family threads.

But they want to focus on FWR especially.

I wonder why? It's almost as if they had a particular agenda.

If the evidence isn't there because it has been deleted, doesn't that point to racism not in fact being allowed to run rampant on the FWR boards?

Your comment reminds me a lot of the stock responses of trans activists when asked to quote something JK Rowling has said that is transphobic.

It's not that they can't, it's just that they won't, because they have provided many examples in the past (you wouldn't know them, they go to a different school) but it's just pointless engaging with these sealioning transphobes.

Personally, if I were arguing that a particular individual or group was racist or homophobic or transphobic and someone asked me to link to an example, I would just link to an example even if I thought it was a pointless waste of time, rather than let neutral bystanders think that I just couldn't link to an example.

AlisonDonut · 02/07/2023 09:18

They also know that the examples of overt racism will have been reported and deleted so most of the evidence no longer exists to be screen shotted or linked.

So the system works and any racism is indeed reported and deleted. That is great news.

This is an open forum, anyone in the world can post anything they want.

I rarely report anything to be honest, apart from SPAM. Because I think that if posts stand they can be ignored, answered, argued with, expanded upon, used as a reference, and although I might not agree with a position I'd rather argue it than just delete it.

Must be tricky enough. Not sure if the user name violates MN policy. But fear not - we don't like informers where I live !

Haha thinly-veiled threat; so high-school. How gracious of you to spare me. Report please - I'm not calling any poster a Karen. The rulez don't go farther than that just like the rule about swearing.

ReleasetheCrackHen · 02/07/2023 09:23

Yep, as expected got responses to my post that follow the playbook.

Wtf is a purity spiral?

When you start trying to stick up for Nigel Farage having his bank account rescinded you know you are on the wrong side.

Free speech has to apply to everyone.

I may disagree with what you say, but I would defend to the death your right to say it.

KarensManager · 02/07/2023 09:31

pues · 02/07/2023 08:01

In my experience the women on FWR are the most intelligent and articulate on MN.

🤣🤣It's like posters think if they say this often enough, it would become true. Intelligent and articulate people (such as the type some people on FWR claim to be while patting themselves on the back, and their arse-kissers-with-heart-eyes always want everyone to believe they are) don't tend to say it, at least as much as it's said on mumsnet.

Personally, I haven't seen any special intelligence on FWR that isn't available elsewhere...but rose-tinted glasses and all.

midgetastic · 02/07/2023 09:33

Too complicated @DdraigGoch , nuance

That's why FWR is viewed as intelligent and articulate by many - because they can despise someone completely and still treat them as a human being

It's no wonder they think they can do no wrong though, what with all the smoke-blowing up....

You can't blame anyone for buying their own/others' hype.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 02/07/2023 09:37

Quite a bit of animus toward FWR from a small cabal of posters here.

It's almost as if they had an agenda ...

KarensManager · 02/07/2023 09:41

Almost as if they have an agenda

Could we deviate from this constantly repeated statement or is it a klaxon of some sort? People disagreeing with the almighty FWR don't always "have an agenda".

ReleasetheCrackHen · 02/07/2023 09:42

For the record, the reason Nigel Farage has had his bank account closed is because due to the costs of Brexit, most high street U.K. banks cannot afford to maintain accounts for expats like him. He primarily resides in Germany. Tens of thousands of British expats have had their accounts closed.

He’s not being targeted. He sowed the seeds of this by campaigning for Brexit. That’s what is so ridiculous about his sad face on TV. That and the fact many non High Street banks do offer U.K. accounts to nonresidents.

midgetastic · 02/07/2023 09:51

They are not "disagreeing " with FWR

They are attempting to bring it into disrepute and get it shut down by demanding a far greater level of scrutiny than already takes place for reasons that do not stand examination

If you want to tackle racism then look across the site - especially at celebrity related threads - it's not worse in FWR and the antagonists here have been unable to give any evidence to support their suggestion that it is.

Yes there are crap people on FWR
As on the rest of the site
If it bothers you that much then you don't need to read anything

midgetastic · 02/07/2023 09:52

Thank you @ReleasetheCrackHen - that's quite funny
