Totally inappropriate enormous vibrator adverts now ALL over Mumnset.

What on earth are you thinking of? Is Mumsnet really that short of cash that they have to stoop this low?

Not to mention the ridiculous woke language ie "people with wombs".

Totally inappropriate on ALL levels.

Nothing to do with clutching pearls. I just don’t want vibrators thrust in my face when I’m having a cup of coffee and a look through MN! If I want more info about sex toys, I’ll make my own enquiries, thanks!

Exactly

We went from speaking exclusively of 'women' to talking of 'vulva owners'

I mean why, just WHY?

VulvaOwnerBornNotBuilt · 02/02/2023 10:26

Squamata · 02/02/2023 10:24

I couldn't give a toss, just so you know, mumsnet!

I don't associate mumsnet with arousal though, so I don't understand why you wouldn't see this and think of batch cooking and cleaning your skirting boards rather than sexy things.

Can't get het up about vulva owners really, they're just trying to flog slightly overpriced vibrators without a TRA/TERF pile on, what can you do?

But they don't give a fuck about alienating women.

GoodChat · 02/02/2023 10:27

That's a really inoffensive advert and is clearly an advert.

LizziesTwin · 02/02/2023 10:29

I just don’t want to see loads of promoted materials about vibrators. I can buy one at Boots or go online, it’s not difficult to find them.

TheShellBeach · 02/02/2023 10:29

@MNHQ

Use the word WOMAN.
Stop pandering to TRAs.

RedCarsGoFaster · 02/02/2023 10:30

"anybody with a clitoris"?????

FFS, we're women!!! Women!!!

Why is the word women now taboo?

Massive fail by MN and the collaboration company.

Am I a TERF because I have a vulva and a clitoris? Apparently so.

The only good news is it's shit like this that is waking people up to the radical agenda to erase the female sex from real life and allow the trans agenda to overtake us.

WendyAndCIyde · 02/02/2023 10:31

I keep seeing it too. Make it go away. I wouldn't buy from a company who describes women as vulva owners.

hidingbehindascreen · 02/02/2023 10:31

Unfortunately it also comes up in the app... on this actual thread
Bizarre

Read that as Volvo owners and thought driving was going to get a lot more interesting

Wish I'd bought a Volvo now

OrangePurple · 02/02/2023 10:32

Yes unacceptable @LilyMumsnet
If I want one I will go to Ann Summers Online

CoffeeRightNow · 02/02/2023 10:34

I’m what I don’t understand is this.

I thought transwomen ARE women #TWAW…or are they not?

Or are transwomen vulva owners?

Or are trans vulva owners trans vulva owners?

Do TW want to be women? Or vulva owners?

Just say what you mean and stop this nonsense. We are women. Pandering to this foolishness just makes you look stupid at best, misogynist overall. Which isn’t a good look for a vibrate company OR a website for mothers.

FKATondelayo · 02/02/2023 10:34

I find it odd that the Sex chat (which is often a source of good advice and support as well as being user driven) is hidden away and not allowed on the front page but vibrator companies can pay to plaster their product all over Active Convos.

The taboo of mothers having sex? Never happened. For a start mothers are the only people with stone cold evidence of their sex lives. Everyone else's is purely anecdotal.

Fedupofdiets · 02/02/2023 10:34

WOMAN.........Say it MN FFS how deeply offensive. Don't give a shit about seeing a sex toy ad but honestly I cannot believe that here of all places has come to this. So disappointing!! I love MN too and have been here for 19 years but this is way off the mark.

CoffeeRightNow · 02/02/2023 10:34

Meant to say at the start I’m confused

TeenTraumaTrials · 02/02/2023 10:35

And the irony of the ad appearing on this thread

Wheresthebeach · 02/02/2023 10:36

Awful

Lucylock · 02/02/2023 10:37

I agree. The ad is not what I want to see here. Especially given the nonsense about vulva owners and taboos about sex. The ad comes across as condescending with all the 'made for mums' crap.

shivawn · 02/02/2023 10:37

YesitsBess · 02/02/2023 10:21

I'm also annoyed at this part of the Shrek's ear copy:

We knew from previous activations with our community that sex and motherhood is a deeply-rooted taboo.

Activations? Activations?!? What in the name of Glass Onion is that?

The Glass Onion nonsense word reference made me laugh. 😅

I don't care about the ads, or that Mumsnet have developed a vibrator.

The refusal to use the word woman disgusts me.

@PissedUpLightweightEmptyHeadedNooNoo

Same.

SpareHeirOverThere · 02/02/2023 10:38

I don't mind the sex toy adverts. This is a website for adults. Mainly adult human females.

The misogynistic, offensive language from Smile Makers is not okay. It is never okay to replace or even supplement the word 'woman' by referring to body parts. It is dehumanising. And I am angry that Mumsnet put those words on its site.

Sex and motherhood are not a taboo combination. I have never seen a poster claim it is. Making that link is unnecessary and once again offensive.

'Community activations' is also offensive, but only to my inner pedant.

Cantgetyououtofmyheadboy · 02/02/2023 10:39

Completely agree OP.

AllOutofEverything · 02/02/2023 10:39

I am not keen on this advert either.

The4teddybears · 02/02/2023 10:39

I don’t want to see these ads all the time. If I wanted to look for these products ,, I would do exactly that. Look for them .

Beyonsp · 02/02/2023 10:39

VulvaOwnerBornNotBuilt · 02/02/2023 10:25

It's on the other thread but the use of babies bottles🍼 for bullet points is fucking weird.

Yep very creepy tbh, totally inappropriate.

MyPurpleHeart · 02/02/2023 10:40

Its the two people about to shag on the front page that got me. I look at mumsnet on my breaks, and my colleague walked past. Very awkward
