Totally inappropriate enormous vibrator adverts now ALL over Mumnset.

What on earth are you thinking of? Is Mumsnet really that short of cash that they have to stoop this low?

Not to mention the ridiculous woke language ie "people with wombs".

Totally inappropriate on ALL levels.

You've come to the right place

Whadda · 02/02/2023 10:16

Agree.

The constant sex toy ads and promoted posts are ridiculous. I often scroll Mumsnet on long train commutes but I don’t now as I’m worried people think I’m scrolling a sex toy site in public.

Very, very annoyed at the “people with wombs” bit too. Not only is it nonsense in the sense that a vibrator has nothing to do with a womb, it’s exclusionary. I would bet my house that there are more women on here who have had their wombs removed than there are “transmen”.

If Justine is happy to make her money off of women, she should be happy to use the word.

Aurorabored · 02/02/2023 10:16

If the little ones one your lap can read, they really shouldn’t be looking at Mumsnet. If they can’t, it’s a crayon or a lipstick.

IncognitoIsMyFavouriteWord · 02/02/2023 10:16

Carry on Mumsnet, we're not all pearl clutchers.

We are vulva owners not pearl clutchers, apparently. Get it right @IncognitoIsMyFavouriteWord

CoffeeRightNow · 02/02/2023 10:19

Maybe vulva clutchers would be better?

EspeciallyDetermined · 02/02/2023 10:19

I have been avoiding clicking on these threads because I don't want all my devices spamming with ads for "bedroom toys" and also because I get sick of all these promoted by MN threads cluttering up the feed but agree with others that I am not a vulva owner, I'm a woman.

I would also like to be able to hide irrelevant Promoted by MN threads, if I'm not interested on the first day they appear I still won't be interested 4 weeks later when they are still there, there seem to be more and more of them and I resolutely avoid clicking on any of them on principle now, even if I am interested in the subject matter.

Aurorabored · 02/02/2023 10:20

Am I the only one who looked at it and though, ‘that looks like it will be disappointingly underpowered.’

VulvaOwnerBornNotBuilt · 02/02/2023 10:20

I'm not keen on the people snagging on the front page. Not because I'm a prude but because like others I use MN in public.

And who chose Shrek green?

SwedishEdith · 02/02/2023 10:20

ZeroFuchsGiven · 02/02/2023 10:08

It looks like an aiwick air freshener.

Fortunately, I've not seen the ads but am laughing at this now having seen the screenshot.

ZeroFuchsGiven · 02/02/2023 10:21

I cant believe MN are on board with this bollocks tbh.

Ive just been reading the reviews, I can only presume MNHQ got a batch sent to them.

YesitsBess · 02/02/2023 10:21

I'm also annoyed at this part of the Shrek's ear copy:

We knew from previous activations with our community that sex and motherhood is a deeply-rooted taboo.

Activations? Activations?!? What in the name of Glass Onion is that?

keepaweatheredeye · 02/02/2023 10:21

Looks like one of those touch and spray air fresheners you find in shit pub toilets.

FFS Mumsnet. What were you thinking??!!

SiobhanSharpe · 02/02/2023 10:21

Just when we thought things were turning the corner on stupid, insulting, anti-female language, some bright spark came up with this.
Letting the interns loose on the copy hasn't been the best idea previously, has it Mumsnet?

keepaweatheredeye · 02/02/2023 10:21

Also - as a mum, I have great sex. KR

mrscumberbatch11 · 02/02/2023 10:21

penelopepea · 02/02/2023 10:09

As a woman without a womb due to hysterectomy I find this terminology extremely offensive. Not cool Mumsnet.

Agree

LetTheLiquorTalk · 02/02/2023 10:22

This is what happens when you collaborate with a ‘woke’ company. Vulva owners and people with wombs. 🙄 Ffs, you’re literally called mumsnet, you know what women are. Absolute fail.

dirt · 02/02/2023 10:22

I'm a mum.

Mum womb doesn't work any more. I'm menopausal.

Can I only use it half power?

CoffeeRightNow · 02/02/2023 10:22

Mothers having sex is taboo? Is it?

PissedUpLightweightEmptyHeadedNooNoo · 02/02/2023 10:23

I don't care about the ads, or that Mumsnet have developed a vibrator.

The refusal to use the word woman disgusts me.

watcherintherye · 02/02/2023 10:24

IncognitoIsMyFavouriteWord · 02/02/2023 10:16

Carry on Mumsnet, we're not all pearl clutchers.

Nothing to do with clutching pearls. I just don’t want vibrators thrust in my face when I’m having a cup of coffee and a look through MN! If I want more info about sex toys, I’ll make my own enquiries, thanks!

Squamata · 02/02/2023 10:24

I couldn't give a toss, just so you know, mumsnet!

I don't associate mumsnet with arousal though, so I don't understand why you wouldn't see this and think of batch cooking and cleaning your skirting boards rather than sexy things.

Can't get het up about vulva owners really, they're just trying to flog slightly overpriced vibrators without a TRA/TERF pile on, what can you do?

Squamata · 02/02/2023 10:24

And the sight of a vibrator is not, in and of itself, corrupting. Either your kids don't know what it is or you explain in an age-appropriate way. Meh

VulvaOwnerBornNotBuilt · 02/02/2023 10:25

It's on the other thread but the use of babies bottles🍼 for bullet points is fucking weird.
