@MNHQ please could you move these into the Royal Family board? They're all over AIBU.

OP posts:
GreenLunchBox · 16/12/2022 17:05

It's disgraceful, and I agree it's putting me off coming on the site

Glassofwhatever · 16/12/2022 17:07

It'll die down really soon, well at least until his wretched book comes out 😒

Newwardrobe · 16/12/2022 17:41

Or programme a klaxon with someone screaming Wrong Topic every time someone starts a thread in the wrong place.

GeneratedRandomly · 16/12/2022 17:51

As usual, waste of time complaining:

*Thanks for flagging this - as this is such a big topic in the news right now, we think that this thread is okay where it is but we'll keep an eye on things and move it if we feel that it would be better suited elsewhere.

Don't forget that you can hide threads if you'd rather not have to see them.*

AWaferThinMint · 16/12/2022 17:53

They don't seem to move threads anymore. Makes a nonsense of having the specific locations. Just have a huge forum

Topseyt123 · 16/12/2022 18:00

Yes please. Get rid of them. They are utter bile and a total nuisance.

GeneratedRandomly · 16/12/2022 18:06

Does anyone remember how everyone used to bump all the other threads so that the dross got lost at the bottom?

Used to be when the spammers were out in force and no night watch.

Needs more than one person to do it though...

LizziesTwin · 16/12/2022 18:09

I’ve just been reporting them all. Every single sodding one.

I doubt it will make a difference. Unless people stop posting en masse. Bet you get the same reply that I did (above), it's a standard one.

BeggyMitchell · 16/12/2022 18:14

PAFMO · 16/12/2022 16:34

We could start massively derailing them like people were wont to do in ye olden days.
Post pics of kittens, or Terry Wogan's credentials, or a bat or sth on each rabid thread. Or start a completely unconnected conversation so all the nutters think it's them gone mad.
I'm sure HQ would secretly thank us.

Ah, feeling nostalgic.

CraigDavid · 16/12/2022 18:17

Yes please! Driving me crazy. People have lost all perspective

WrongTopic · 16/12/2022 18:21

This thread is being ignored by MN...wonder who is actually posting all those threads - any thoughts MN?

Seeusernamehistory · 16/12/2022 18:23

Please move all the threads, Mumsnet. It's ridiculous and not getting better. Harry's book will no doubt lead to another massive surge.

LizziesTwin · 16/12/2022 18:26

@GeneratedRandomly I last had a response at 9:52, which was we’ll have a look from Liv.

SusiePevensie · 16/12/2022 18:29

Oh God yes. Awful racist bilge.

PAFMO · 16/12/2022 18:29

BeggyMitchell · 16/12/2022 18:14

Ah, feeling nostalgic.

Awww look at his little face. <channels Tess Daly>

BeggyMitchell · 16/12/2022 14:27

Now that's interesting.

Can you trace IP addresses MNHQ?

It’s not that interesting - the sample size was small!

Quveas · 16/12/2022 18:37

GeneratedRandomly · 16/12/2022 17:04

Oh, I remember those days. Good idea. Last time I started reporting something like this the response was that it created interesting discussion or some sort of twaddle. Eventually the threads started to appear in the right topic so I assume it wasn't just me that had stopped bothering with the site.

Maybe the posters that keep going on about it are Premium users and exempt from posting in the right topic.

The "interesting discussion" twaddle note seems to be code for many many people posting disgustingly offensive posts about any subject at all. Want to be racist? It's an interesting discussion. Disabilist? It's educational. Bash benefits claimants? It's a topic that's informative. Tell another poster they are an idiot and you are banned! I suspect the site owners like the toxicity because it pulls in the numbers and the stats, supports their marketing. Welcome to capitalism at its best. You can sell anything including vitriol and abuse.

No doubt you will get the same standard reply as posted previously. It's beyond a joke now.

I reported some and got exactly the same response.

LadyHarmby · 17/12/2022 07:12

I’m suspicious that there are bots at work.

YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet · 17/12/2022 10:05

Hi everyone. We'll move any threads we think are better suited to the RF topic but please also remember you can hide individual threads.

We do expect, as with any big news story, that there will be lots of threads about H&M across the boards. In our experience this usually dies down alongside media coverage. Though to be honest we are bracing ourselves for the book release in January!

butterfliedtwo · 17/12/2022 10:09

Except these never die down, do they?

But they are all better suited to the RF topic, because they are all about the RF. That's what the RF topic is for.

We know that there will be lots of threads started across the boards, but there's no need for them to stay there.

YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet · 17/12/2022 10:45

Thanks @ProtectorExtraordinaryOfTheCantonsOfNim in general we try not to be overly prescriptive about what goes where but we acknowledgde that some people are sick of seeing so many threads about this.
