Determined, re-appearing trolls/PBPs

BIWI · 23/10/2022 22:12

I know that TSSNCOP

But why, for the love of God, does it appear that you're unable to permanently ban the most recent, persistent trolls?

It's so wearing, frustrating and - I'm sure from your position - time-wasting.

Why is it - and it seems like it's worse since the new platform - so impossible to get shot of them?

OP posts:
BIWI · 23/10/2022 22:30

... and the persistent 'I love Boris' troll is a really good example of this. Someone who you keep, apparently, banning yet comes back again - sometimes within minutes. Literally.

OP posts:

I wish the Boris troll would pull out like Boris and stop going on and on and on Smile

vodkaredbullgirl · 23/10/2022 23:05

Can they please stop

ofwarren · 23/10/2022 23:07

I don't understand how their IP isn't permanently banned. I've asked this before but never get an answer.
How are they able to create a new account?

FlibbertyGiblets · 23/10/2022 23:09

The Boris troll isn't even funny. Please can you get rid, I KNOW as BIWI says, that TSSNCOP but please. I don't like the atmosphere this particular PBP brings.

Thank you.

HQ don't comment on their procedures, Warren. They might be giving away work-rounds or provide insight into the best way to reach round the letter flap and lift the catch with a wire coat hanger. So to speak.

I understand this but still want to bash the returning PBP with a rolled up newspaper.

Not many people have a static IP address now.

vodkaredbullgirl · 23/10/2022 23:16

They are taking their time to get rid of that poster.

Must be with a VPN. surprise no one had ever thought of it before

Hawkins001 · 23/10/2022 23:17

Boris, boris, boris

IPs change.

I had a deletion email from MNHQ but I can still see the thread.

That makes it tricky then
M Maybe they need to have your first posts verified or something similar.
It's so annoying seeing that trolls crap most nights, over and over again.

ErrolTheDragon · 23/10/2022 23:19

I'm not sure that it's possible to stop PBPs making a new account but it might help if the Night Watch could be given the power to ban egregious offenders, it might slow down the rate of their threads.

colouringindoors · 23/10/2022 23:20

Seriously. The Boris fan troll is Seriously annoying at best. At worst, given all the damage and deaths many Johnson believe caused, utterly offensive and traumatising.

That's the pickle with being a leader of the country, sometimes no matter how well meaning, covid was unprecedented times.

One of worst death rates in Europe. Covid positive patients sent back to care homes. Late lockdowns. "Let the bodies pile high". Partied while we couldn't say goodbye, let alone bury our dead. How DARE you.

If you're using mobile data, you don't have a static IP. Someone really determined to troll can just use multiple SIMs to change IP quickly and frequently.

I never knew, I'm crap with technology.
So pathetic to go out of their way to keep making new accounts. Such a weirdo.

Considering it's all based on newspapers and we all know how trust worthy and reliable they are,

Hawkins001 · 24/10/2022 00:54

I know boris was not a saint, but unless we know the details of intelligence services files, then it's all based on newspapers, and subject to spin, and manipulation, and smear, etc

He was found to have comitted a criminal offence while in office ffs.

Hence why I said he's not a saint, but just because he's bad in one area does not automatically mean he was bad in another

42isthemeaning · 24/10/2022 08:37

Anyone can use a VPN to set up a new / different account. There are also temporary email addresses you can use and various ways of hiding IP addresses, etc, though the latter isn't necessary to keep reinventing yourself on here! Essentially if someone is determined enough, they can keep posting. Mumsnet may also have artificial intelligence software which is designed to spot PBPs, but I imagine they really need more staff to spot the trolls.
