I posted on a thread and it didn't appear on the Active page.Confused This is at stupid o'clock in the morning. Another thread in Active had been last posted on 50minutes before my post.ShockConfused

I'm using Chrome on Andriod.

Then it's not working very well.

That's not what is happening with the two threads about Noah , @LilyMumsnet

Plenty of threads - some more active, some less active - are appearing and staying in Active with only one post. These same threads are appearing in Active frequently and only gradually drop down the list.

As previously said, the two threads about Noah are usually taking five posts to get into Active and usually disappear out again almost immediately.

We think this is pretty fair!
It looks ugly unfair.

If, for whatever reason, MNHQ do not want to get behind and offer support to this mother, then at least fairness for the Noah threads too would be just great.

Yiayoula · 09/04/2022 11:38

Well said, TheRealMrsMac

@MNHQ - Your stated aim is to “ Make parents’ lives easier by pooling knowledge, advice and support “.

Please add your voice to support Noah’s Mum.

TheRealMrsMac · 09/04/2022 11:48

Just to add as a longstanding Mumsnetter, there is absolutely no wish to dominate Active. All that is being asked for is a fair crack at it, and without the need to fill the threads up with 'bump' posts to get there.

As kindly as possible (and as someone who has already signed the petition), if a thread is not drawing enough interest to keep it on the top page and has to be filled by the same handful of posters repeating "Bump... Bump... Bump" then I'd say it's not really an Active thread. It's not an active discussion, is it.

Active threads are those which are drawing a lot of interest/engagement from many posters or readers. I understand why you want it to be in Active, I really do, but equally I understand why it's not appearing.

I think you'd be better placed asking MNHQ if they'd make a sticky thread (apologies if you've done this) rather than filling up the thread with "Bump".

Yiayoula · 09/04/2022 15:34

Lockheart- thank you very much for signing the petition , and for your understanding.
Several of us “bumpers “ have asked MNHQ if one of the Noah threads could be sticky.

We haven’t received any reply from them.

Which personally I find extremely disappointing, in a site that purports to support parents.

Thanks again for standing by Noah’s Mum. 💐

TheRealMrsMac · 09/04/2022 16:31

@Lockheart

MNHQ have been appealed to about making a/the Noah thread/s a sticky, but have not responded.

Equally kindly, I'm afraid you're missing the point about the issues with Active. Other threads get one post on them and get into Active, some staying there for 40 minutes with no further posts. The Noah threads in AIBU and Petitions get a post on them, and do not appear in Active. The only way, usually, for them to appear in Active is for them to get 5 posts. Then, unlike other threads which hang around in Active with no further posts - but allowing people to see them and be 'interested' - the Noah threads disappear, often almost immediately. None of us want to be repeatedly posting bump, spending time best used on other things and none of us want the threads filled up with repeated bump posts. But it is unfortunately the only way, usually, to get the Noah threads seen by a wider audience in Active - those many people who would want to, and do, post to support or discuss once they are aware of Noah's story. Active is not a level playing field. We only ask that the algorithms are adjusted so that it is, especially for something so important.

Thank you for signing the petition. 💙

sausagebap · 09/04/2022 16:33

I see these threads in Active all the time

TheRealMrsMac · 09/04/2022 16:43

If it wasn't for posters being determined to make things fairer and kindly putting the work in for Noah and Fiona, you wouldn't see the threads in Active.

But I'm very glad to hear you've seen them, @sausagebap 💙

TheRealMrsMac · 11/04/2022 16:32

Bump 💙

TheRealMrsMac · 13/04/2022 19:05

Still having frustrating issues with this.

TheRealMrsMac · 14/04/2022 16:34

Still taking 5 posts for two threads to appear in Active and then usually disappear straight out again.

It's not happening to other threads in Active.

Yiayoula · 14/04/2022 16:43

Bump

Yiayoula · 14/04/2022 16:45

Hmmm - 2 posts on this thread in 9 minutes, almost 24 hours after the previous post , and it’s high up the Active list .

The Noah threads - not so much ….

TheRealMrsMac · 17/04/2022 11:49

The unvisited Classifieds location together with the algorithms - 5 posts to get in Active, out again in the blink of an eye or with another post, until there's been another 4 posts - is making the Noah thread almost unworkable. We were promised that Mumsnet would 'discuss in the office' pinning a thread about Noah or at least changing the location and uphill battle algorithms, but so far we have heard nothing back, and the situation hasn't improved at all, despite the efforts of so many Mumsnetters determined to help Noah and his mummy Fiona. Come on MNHQ, will you help, not hinder - please?

TheRealMrsMac · 18/04/2022 12:02

Bump. 💙

TheRealMrsMac · 20/04/2022 22:53

It is now taking 7-8 posts for the Noah threads in Petitions and AIBU to get into Active. It has got worse rather than better. It is unworkable. Is that the intention?

AuntTwacky · 21/04/2022 00:52

Active list seems to be useless now. All threads are old, why is this an improvement?

ProperVexed · 21/04/2022 06:36

I agree with @AuntTwacky ....I mumsnet on my iPad, active is full of old threads. I'm struggling to find anything new or worth following.

Motnight · 21/04/2022 06:38

I have active threads appearing where they were last posted on yesterday, so things still aren't working properly.

Chocoqueen · 21/04/2022 07:44

Glad it's not just me. It's pointless now.
ImInStealthMode · 21/04/2022 07:50

Just been through my active list and there's nothing under a month old. Most of it is months or even years old.

Totally pointless.

crackingreward · 21/04/2022 07:56

Since the update it's virtually unusable

thisisawfulsimplyawful · 21/04/2022 07:57

I have nothing on my active list that isn't less than a few months old. Nothing recent is showing on there.

Bretonbear · 21/04/2022 08:17

Totally usable now. Have lost so many useful and helpful threads. Thanks Mumsnet.

OnaBegonia · 21/04/2022 09:02

Mostly old threads showing and 12 conception/pregnancy ones 🙄
Nothing new in last 24hrs.
