Enjoying this thread?

Why do I keep getting this “Enjoying this thread? Why not add it to your watch list” message every time I move on to a new page of a thread that I haven’t posted on?

It’s bloody annoying that when I’m starting to read a thread that’s 20 pages long this nonsense message pops up every time I move on to a new page.

Lots of threads I just want to skip through and not engage with, so I really don’t want to add to a watch list. Stop asking me please.

I find the watch list really hard as it adds in everything I have posted on so it can be a huge list and if I have just read and not posted it can be hard to work out where I am. I've not posted what is suggested here but ican see why some would

Yes, I have backed out of many multiple threads this evening because every time I went to the next page the massive "Enjoying this thread?" pop up interrupted my reading and I got too irritated to continue as it happened on every page (on my phone browser I can't expand to more than 20 posts per page)

How do I know if I want to add a thread to my watch list if you won't let me bloody read what is there in peace so I can decide whether it is worth the watch list investment?!

Sometimes, especially in longer threads, the question/issue posed by the OP has been resolved by the time I am reading so no I don't want to add the thread to my watch list, I just want to get some closure/am interested in some of the generated discussion points.

Yes it feels unsettling and intrusive. Please get rid of it MNHQ! I'm perfectly capable of adding a thread to my watch list without being hassled thanks!

Also insensitivity worded. I have been reading miscarriage threads due to my situation. No, 8m not enjoying reading about it!

It is very annoying and more importantly, like Willow1981 says, will be upsetting for some posters.

Oh yes, I had this too. Very annoying. Especially as I’m logged in and use my Watch list already - I don’t need this ‘helpful’ hint.

I hadn’t thought about the words being insensitive but as PP it right. There are a number of threads you might be reading because you want advice or help rather than ‘enjoyment’.

Glad it's not just me who is finding it incredibly frustrating and unnecessary. Can you please get rid of it MNHQ! This site covers so many uncomfortable and emotional topics and the stupid pop up box is really trivialising some of the threads.

This is driving my crazy. It is pretty inappropriate in some areas of the site…infertility, miscarriage, bereavement…

I'm getting a little annoyed by MNHQs pointless changes, first the Christmas box, then trending vanished and now this. How about fixing problems that would help improve the site, like the appalling search function?

Agree with everyone else.

Disruptive pop-ups very annoying, unhelpful and bad UX.

Not to mention clumsy and highly insensitive for many MN topics and threads.

Agree. If you must, once per thread would do, not every time you go to a different page.
And change the wording as pps have said it's insensitive.

Get rid please MN. It’s putting us off reading threads having that intrusive and annoying message pop up.
Plus not all threads are ‘enjoyable’!
