User name confusion..

There is now a poster using the name @BertrandRusselI- which is a bit confusing. Is that OK? I think I had the name first (aware that sounds a bit playgroundy) and I might be confusing.

She's using a capital I instead of the last L. I i didn't spot it either-someone else did when she posted minutes before me on the same thread. I @ed her so she would know I was posting about it.

There have been a whole load of these very similar names going on for quite a while now, when it’s a poster with a very unusual or idiosyncratic name it’s clearly deliberate rather than accidental. I have to say that I do tend to assume the copycat is a troll.

But she isn't posting in a trolly way, though. It does feel very uncomfortable.

Not necessarily troll-ish in the sense of being goady or unpleasant. Maybe they just hoped everyone to take a bit more notice of them if they had the same name as a well known poster! They obviously need to change it though, it's barely distinguishable.

There's a Pratchet knocking about who asked if I minded. I don't; it's quite dissimilar. But yours is all but indistinguishable and does feel weird...

That's pretty rude actually. Not good etiquette to copy someone else's name so closely.

It's pretty disconcerting, an ArmySall popped up a couple of years ago, clearly taking the mickey.

She and I posted on the same thread within a minute of each other. It was very odd.
