Any progress with the "freezing" problem?

I know there's a long thread about longstanding site issues where the freezing has been mentioned, but ironically I can't see it because it's frozen. Is tech any closer to a solution because it's beyond annoying. Thanks.

iPhone user on safari, have had this issue for a few days. It freezes and won't let me access other even pages which are working fine. I have to close down safari and then reload.

It happens most if I go onto _chat, if I log onto mumsnet and use the other forums it seems fine.

iPhone 6s safari - terrible freezing. I installed the adblocker app after reading this thread and it's much better. Though I'm assuming MN probably don't want ads to be blocked

Really bad today, Safari on iPad. Freezes everything every half hour or so. Am giving up now.

Safari on iPad. Talk will always load in new tab,, may or may not let me into a few threads, but always ends up half-loading a page and then can't refresh. Have to close tab then reopen. Perhaps MNHQ actually want us all to have Adblock?!

I've just found this thread via googling 'Mumsnet keeps freezing'. I'm use safari on an iPhone and it's been unusable for a few days now. All the same issues mentioned by OP. Have to shut safari down when it happens as not even the forward/back navigation arrows work.

Freezing for me too the last few days and happened again this evening. Go onto a chat thread and it freezes and I have to close the whole website - forward/back arrows don't work. This is on iPhone.

Ah come on it's not that bad. Open page, scroll so you see full post, read post, get rid of page, open new tab, scroll to next post quickly before it freezes, read post, get rid of page, open new tab, scroll quicker this time, read half post because you weren't quick enough, get rid of page, open new tab and BE determined.

Fight the thoughts of chucking phone at the wall and there you go. Bosh!

Aaah! Now now every time I open a thread it automatically keeps jumping to the bottom of the thread so I have to scroll all the way back up to the top - or read it backwards......

Yep, been happening for a couple of weeks for me too. iPhone 5, 10.2.1, mobile site. Struggling to load the AIBU page, then I can't click on a particular link. If I can, you can guarantee it will freeze at some point.

The jumping issue I think is to do with the large Ad at the bottom of the page. It seems that I can't look at the posts until I've been jumped to view the large advert at the bottom, after that I can scroll back up. (iPhone)

It seems to be one of the ads at the top of the page I think - some load fine but when I open a page and it freezes (which is happening about 1 in 5 times at the moment) it seems to be because whatever is in the top ad slot isn't loading. And then I have to kill that window and open a new one.

Must definitely be related to ads - it's been a breeze since i installed adblocker. Almost unusable before that.

Ok yes it's def the ads. I just installed Adblocker too and now it's running fine. Had been appalling for days before that.

gamerchick · 05/03/2017 12:26

aw I can't install an adblocker. Phones too old apparently.

I've had to resort to using the app. Maybe that's what they want.

I had it again this morning, I'm starting to think I might have to get Adblock too.

Sorry HQ but you're not leaving people much option Sad

Mine has been freezing only the last four days or so since the in thread adverts have been in place. It is making mumsnet practically unusable for me. When I just saw small adverts at the top all worked fine, it is the in thread ones that only appeared for me recently that take up four fifths of my mobile screen that are soooooooo annoying, not because they are there but it seems if they don't load they freeze everything. It is also chewing up my data making me think twice about even visitzing MN which is very sad indeed.

I haven't been on mn much in the last few days because I'm having the same problem. I'm on safari on an iPad (desktop site) and threads aren't loading and pages are freezing. It's to do with an advert at the top for me. I don't particularly want to install a new app just to use mn as I don't have problems with any other site.

It started with me on Thursday 2nd March - about lunchtime - when I was using my iPad mini, Safari, desktop site.

I thought there was something wrong with my iPad. But now I realise this is not the case. I managed to 'get in' once on Friday afternoon, but not since then.

I'm currently on an Apple MacBook laptop, Safari, which is the only way it's working for me.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was something to do with this www.mumsnet.com/Talk/site_stuff/2867736-Testing-new-MPU-placements-on-Talk?msgid=67331982 - a thread which MNHQ didn't 'sticky' in the first place and which they kept very 'low key' Hmm

Adblock has fixed all this for me
