I'd love to live on planet TERF.

When's the next flight?

venusinscorpio · 26/08/2016 23:43

Indeed Helen. Almost funny, but somehow not.

SpecialAgentSpartacusRoars · 26/08/2016 23:44

I do not feel comfortable posting why I feel they're exactly the same.

Please listen to Oscar, MNHQ. We need to be able to talk about autogynephilia. It is a thing.

venusinscorpio · 26/08/2016 23:47

YY Joan!

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 26/08/2016 23:47

That's not a stance on Gender, that is mental illness, Special.

But where do you draw the line?

Rachel Dorsal, white woman self identifies as black - apparently not OK

Man identifying as woman, fine, in fact man is woman

Trans abled: mental health issue

Otherkin: deluded but harmless

How does society decide if identifying as something you are not is abhorrent or admirable?

IfTheCapFitsWearIt · 26/08/2016 23:47

helen to check if posts have been deleted.

Go to the advanced search 🔍 put your name in, and date of time period to search. It should list all the posts you have made in the time period stated. Any deleted posts will have the MN this post was removed statement.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 26/08/2016 23:48

Oh hell, Dorsal is a horrendous autocorrect Blush

AGuyCalledHelen · 26/08/2016 23:49

Thanks Cap

AGuyCalledHelen · 26/08/2016 23:50

Now I can't for the life of me remember her actual name because all I can come up with is dorsal.

SpecialAgentSpartacusRoars · 26/08/2016 23:50

Rachael

venusinscorpio · 26/08/2016 23:52

Rachael

Oh for Pete's sake, I got everything wrong

This person www.theguardian.com/us-news/2015/dec/13/rachel-dolezal-i-wasnt-identifying-as-black-to-upset-people-i-was-being-me

A quick Google suggests that autogynephilia is very much disputed?

SpecialAgentSpartacusRoars · 26/08/2016 23:54

I still don't understand how the surgery really 'works,' tbh. Surely an open wound would.. Sorry, cringing at the terminology here - 'close up?'

Saucery · 26/08/2016 23:56

not if tissue is removed to allow skin grafts. Which come from the penis, I think.

It's not some pretty tampon ad fo sho.

Saucery · 26/08/2016 23:56

You would need dilatory aids for quite a while afterwards too.

AGuyCalledHelen · 26/08/2016 23:59

I can answer about surgery but it's pretty grim.

Saucery · 27/08/2016 00:00

I can imagine it is. I see it as a negation of self, not a freedom. But then I am a woman, so what the fuck do I know?

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 27/08/2016 00:02

I don't think it works particularly well. I was reading a really sad post by a recently operated on transwomen the other day who was having intermittent pain (possibly caused by hair growing inside), and it was too tight and too shallow, and she was worried as it would lubricate when she was aroused but she didn't know how or from where. She was I think kind of worried about how and if sex would actually work.

SpecialAgentSpartacusRoars · 27/08/2016 00:02

It sounds very painful. I hope anyone who goes through that is very happy and feels much better about themselves! Like my tattoos, I know some people think they're the worst thing ever, but they make me very happy, I love them!

I'm scrolling through that link Cote gave, and it's stopped being funny and it's really quite sad. The delusion is so strong, the anger so deep. And it's just never going to happen.

Surprised 'pretenbian' is back in fashion. When I was at uni five years ago even the scary transwomen knew that sort of comment could get them in a lot of trouble. It was straight men who used that. Eg 'you can't be a lesbian because [insert stereotypes about why you're not gay and should fuck me]

Pretenbian was a lesbian term we used ironically. That's clearly been appropriated too.

AGuyCalledHelen · 27/08/2016 00:02

Yeah I guess those things aren't mutually exclusive though. It's a negation of a male sense which is (psychologically) linked to toxic masculinity.

SpecialAgentSpartacusRoars · 27/08/2016 00:03

I'd like to know Helen, if you don't feel comfortable, is there a link I could read?

Saucery · 27/08/2016 00:05

Psychologically yes. Not a physical problem. Because biology can't be changed.

I don't need battle stories about operations either. Not interested in the sob story constructed around a man's need to not be a man.
