I see Northern Irish posters are looking for their own section on Mumsnet.
May we have an Irish section please ?There appear to be lots of Irish posters on this brilliant forum.

I liked craic net but I like The Hot Press better

villainousbroodmare · 14/07/2016 20:09

Sounds good! Grin

SnipSnipMrBurgess · 14/07/2016 20:22

I vote The Hot Press as well !

Floggingmolly · 14/07/2016 20:29

It is good, isn't it?

Grin

feckthemall · 14/07/2016 21:02

Now now self praise is no praise flogging... we can't have you getting notions about yourself now can we.

SnipSnipMrBurgess · 14/07/2016 22:53

Jesus flogging you're fond of yourself aren't ya now?

MaisieDotes · 14/07/2016 23:49

Notions above your station Shock

Nothing worse!

Dairybanrion · 15/07/2016 10:09

Hot press ...thumbs up.

MamMamMam · 15/07/2016 12:55

Love the hot press. It's brilliant Grin

Laughing at the mum/mam thing.

When ds was in senior infants he teacher sent home something about mam. I gave out no end to other class mums about how the teacher couldn't spellBlush oh the shame. I was gobsmacked that it's mam in ireland I always thought it was just a pronunciation thing.

I grew up in NI were it was always mum.

So excited that there might be an Irish section even though I've been down here almost 20 years I know so little about the health service, tax and education.

I dipped my toe into rollercoster but it was so bland hard to navigate. So lurk here a lot.

Crosses fingers for Irish section.

CremeEggThief · 15/07/2016 14:13

To be fair in my part of Ireland, Mam is very much what you might call your mother in conversation and Mum is what you see written down. For example, "Mam said tell your mum I was asking for her" would be the norm, even if both people in the conversation call their own mothers "Mam".

Fair play Floggingmolly the hot press is inspired, but will cause as much confusion as the Tayto ones did for me for the non Irish. Bring it on MNHQ

hollyisalovelyname · 15/07/2016 18:24

Am still morto after commenting that Tayto are the nicest crisps on the Tayto thread.
The other posters were probably Hmm
Poor Holly has lost it.

geekaMaxima · 15/07/2016 18:38

I'm not so sure about a board name like The Hot Press causing confusion... There are plenty of weird non-obvious board names already on MN, like:
Cunning Linguists (title doesn't mentioning language, puns or translation)
The Litter Tray (title doesn't mention cats)
The Tack Room (title doesn't mention horses or ponies)
Woolly Hugs (title doesn't mention knitting or crochet)

People seem to cope just fine. Smile

Let's all pile into the Hot Press!

hollyisalovelyname · 15/07/2016 20:11

That Tayto thread had Golden Wonder at the start ankd I know they are a variety of potato so I put two and two together. Blush

I like craicnet but love The Hot Press.

LuckyLuckyMe · 16/07/2016 12:14

Bit late to this. I was away for a few days and I don't mean to be adding to Floggings notions but my vote goes to The Hot Press.

PlanBwastaken · 16/07/2016 13:37

I need the new section, I need to discuss the new school admission legislation with someone!

Please please please can we have a Hot Press, so...?

CmereTilliTellYa · 16/07/2016 13:43

How do we get Mumsnet HQ back in here? Do we have to report the thread again?

mummytime · 16/07/2016 13:58

I'd like an Irish board but being dreadfully English please can there be something to indicate it's Irish. If only for poor people like me who may just have to move to Ireland at short notice and can't cope without asking hundreds of little questions if we do?

Or put a Shamrock in the title or something

MsHaveNaiceHam · 16/07/2016 14:32

PlanB ; do you want to start a discussion here (while we wait for the Hot Press to be fitted out)?
