I see Northern Irish posters are looking for their own section on Mumsnet.
May we have an Irish section please ?There appear to be lots of Irish posters on this brilliant forum.

Would The Hot Press be in conflict with the magazine? I like The Immersion, when you're in, you're in Grin

Whispering, you'll be able to join is for a Teddie's! I wonder if they'd consider a mumsnet special code for orders....

hollyisalovelyname · 13/07/2016 18:49

TurnOffTheImmersion
Is probably more apt.

Or WhoLeftTheImmersionOn?

Taytocrisps · 13/07/2016 19:15

What about a Father Ted name? Craggy Island or Down With This Sort of Thing?

CremeEggThief · 13/07/2016 19:35

20 years away from Ireland and I still have dreams where I'm being told off for leaving the immersion on, or it's on bath when it should have been put back to sink.Grin

MaisieDotes · 13/07/2016 19:38

I know holly MN pulled the thread really soon after I linked to it. No it was just a thread from earlier today. It was just silly fun.

whispering fab. Booterstown is great, it's a very handy location. I hope the house is exactly the way it looks in the photos! Has anyone (your DP?) viewed it?

hollyisalovelyname · 13/07/2016 19:44

Maisie that's a pity. The title looked funny.
There's a Norn Iron poster wondering about Tayto Park on their thread. Wondering if it's suitable for toddlers.
Anybody here able to help?

Our immersion is broken which suits me fine.

The boiler heats the water too so in the summer I just turn off the radiators. I say Summer- I'm currently in a woolly jumper and I'm still freezing.

Maryz are any of yours going to Longitude? DD (15) is going.

It's over 16s or under 16s accompanied by an adult and she seems to think it's ok.

Yes- same, she was 4 in the July and started school in the Sept. I really regret that now. You can't do it any more, they have to be 4 by the May or June.

I have two small ones two so I have it all ahead of me again

MaisieDotes · 13/07/2016 20:14

Ooooh I really like riffing on The Hot Press

ItsInTheHotPress

HotPressIssues

StewingInTheHotPress

middlings · 13/07/2016 21:08

The Hot Press is BRILLIANT. My English children call it that. Which I love. The also say the word 'yoghurt' properly (although it makes DH's teeth itch).

Booterstown is lovely - good luck whispering

WhisperingLoudly · 14/07/2016 08:25

Thanks everyone - I'm super excited, interspersed with wondering if it's madness. We're in Asia at moment so will be a big change, although my last move I'd never been to the country let alone seen the house so this seems slightly less crazy!

I'm voting for hot press

BlueLeopard · 14/07/2016 11:56

The Good Sitting Room.

Pomegranatemolasses · 14/07/2016 11:57

Just read this thread from beginning to end, and am now super-excited!

When I joined Mumsnet first, years ago, I actually liked the fact that it was less parochial than the Irish sites. But now, reading the wit and humour on this thread, it makes me realise that I was a bit up myself wrong.

middlings · 14/07/2016 12:30

I see Blue's suggestion and raise simply 'The Good Room.'

PlanBwastaken · 14/07/2016 13:07

Oh, I like The Good Room! Would we not have to be on our best behavior though?

DramaAlpaca · 14/07/2016 13:21

I like The Hot Press because that's specifically Irish. Anyone who's Irish or has lived in Ireland for any length of time will know what it means, most other people won't I have to force myself to call it the airing cupboard on visits to the UK

Not sure about naming the section anything to do with immersions or good rooms, tbh, as neither of those are specifically Irish. Saying 'the good room' or giving out about leaving the immersion on are just as much English as Irish - at least they are in the part of northern England where I was brought up.

TopiaryBun · 14/07/2016 13:48

The Good Room is excellent. Also, my mother has wanted one her whole life, and cannot for the life of her understand why, with more space and money, I do not have one so I can usher in the parish priest and feed him queen cakes annually.

KanyesVest · 14/07/2016 13:54

How about the good scissors?

NuggetofPurestGreen · 14/07/2016 14:06

or The Kitchen Scissors.

I like The Hot Press myself, think it is more obvious than The Good Room.

MaisieDotes · 14/07/2016 14:12

The Hot Press still has my vote Smile
