should we address the casual antisemitism on MN?

I rarely venture beyond my narrow range of interests on MN these days so I don't know if it happens a lot, or if a similar level of hatred is extended to other groups, but what I saw tonight was sinister (particularly against the current backdrop of a surge in antisemitic crime in UK). I wondered if we had an agreed definition of what constitutes antisemitism or if people feel the issue is covered and handled well enough within the existing guidelines.

That's called "the outgroup homogeneity effect" Sally and is really useful in understanding unconscious prejudice.Smile

I know the thread has moved on, but I am stunned that anyone can claim there are hardly any Palestinians left in Jordan, when about half the population, including the Queen has direct Palestinian heritage: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demographics_of_Jordan

Have you actually been to Jordan, Larry?

Jordan took in the Palestinian refugees and the Iraqi refugees and now the Syrian refugees. The idea that they should be picketed is ridiculous.

Dione I never heard that expression before.
Even though I am very sensitive to prejudice since my DP is of a different race.

I've had this thread on my mind over the last few days- I wish there were more posts on it. I'd really like to read and learn more.......

I said i was going but i too keep thinking about this thread.

So much more to say!

TheGoldenApples posts were poignant and provided great insight into Jewish traditions.

We all progressed from debate over the OP to a common agreement that racism and xenophobia are unacceptable.

A brilliant thread all round.
