Can we have a topic where name changing is not allowed?

Lots of people feel the 'atmosphere' has been somewhat lost, due to MN becoming so big and so many people name changing for dubious reasons.

So how about a new topic where name changing is not allowed?

So to post in that section, you choose a different name (much like in Mumsnet local). But you have to stick to that name only.

That way, in that section at least, there would be less arses/goady fuckers/Billy bullshitters and drama llamas, hiding behind name changes.

People will become 'regulars' again (in that section at least) and when you go there to chat, you'll at least 'recognise' other people.

OK I'm sure there are 1 million reasons why this is a stupid idea/impossible to set up, but can anyone think of them? Grin

Yes please, count me in. I like recognising people.

I'd like to keep my name though.

All the nn changing and trolling and pbp malarkey has me totally befuddled and I can never spot any of it.

The problem with me is I can.

And even when I think I can and I'm wrong, I end up deleting what I write before posting...or just ignoring the thread altogether because I assume it's just another goady twat.

If I 'knew' the person posting, it would be easier to make my own mind up as to whether I want to get invested in a thread or not.

I don't mean all threads btw, just the one with the controversial subjects.

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 29/12/2015 16:56

That came out really wrong. Our use of the words "fuck" and "cunt." Better. Grin

magimedi · 29/12/2015 16:56

Exit, I think liver fluke is only a problem if you pick it wild where sheep srink from the same streams. Most of the H20cress we buy comes from farms, often in Hampshire, with no sheep.

BatsUpMyNightie · 29/12/2015 16:57

Oh ffs - coughing up bits of kidney now fucks and cunts Grin

DoesntLeftoverTurkeySoupDragOn · 29/12/2015 17:00

I can't see that it would make a difference TBH. It's so easy to re-register that it wouldn't stop goody fuckers and Trolls IMO.

WorraLiberty · 29/12/2015 17:03

It would if you had to be registered for a certain amount of time before you could join the topic.

Just like the sex topic.

Or at least it should cut a lot of it out.

DoesntLeftoverTurkeySoupDragOn · 29/12/2015 17:07

So the PBPs would just stock up in advance. Given that they already go to great lengths to come back, I doubt it would stop them.

I not against it, I just don't think it would work.

WorraLiberty · 29/12/2015 17:11

I agree it wouldn't stop them (I'm not sure anything can stop a determined PBP).

But having to spend a couple of months 'puppy walking' an account before it gets accepted, might cut it down a bit.

But really it's more about being able to use a topic and spot regular users, thus giving a more 'homely' feel to it.

God that sounds twee but you know what I mean Grin

Could we pick a local area and hijack it? Orrrrr, could there be a new 'local' area created (i like Regular scorner...) that isnt a real place but set up the same as local?
