Can we have a topic where name changing is not allowed?

Lots of people feel the 'atmosphere' has been somewhat lost, due to MN becoming so big and so many people name changing for dubious reasons.

So how about a new topic where name changing is not allowed?

So to post in that section, you choose a different name (much like in Mumsnet local). But you have to stick to that name only.

That way, in that section at least, there would be less arses/goady fuckers/Billy bullshitters and drama llamas, hiding behind name changes.

People will become 'regulars' again (in that section at least) and when you go there to chat, you'll at least 'recognise' other people.

OK I'm sure there are 1 million reasons why this is a stupid idea/impossible to set up, but can anyone think of them? Grin

But if we don't like the emojis, we could all just choose not to use them? My posts don't automatically turn in to emoji speak when I press post

WotNoLoobrush · 30/12/2015 22:01

That's Apple off the hook then for now Wink

OddSocks - non-competitive football is where goals are scored and the final scoreline is not even, but you aren't allowed to record or publish the results and certainly not allowed to calculate a league table. Standard in our local FA until under-twelves IIRC.

They're supposed to let everyone have equal time on the pitch regardless of how good they are. It's supposed to be completely inclusive and celebratory and encouraging. Most teams stick to those rules and the children are happy. Some ... don't.

Stick with the MN ones and then it's inclusive. It should come under the accessibility policy really, just like the way we agree not to use text speak in case people have difficulty reading.

That's convincing. Very good point.

I fear you may well be asking too much of them Mary.

I think the Hide Poster thread has been bumped again today. I am sure it came up in my Active.

Catzpyjamas · 30/12/2015 22:12

See your post and mine look the same to me (on Kindle).
At least with mumsnet ones, everyone sees the same don't they?

Queenbean · 30/12/2015 22:19

Maryz if they do a hide poster option I am going for the emoji-heavy first. Maybe a three strikes and you're out type thing.

I'll stop then. If we can have a gin emot. And summat better than chuffing cadburys.

Queenbean · 30/12/2015 22:34

I like gin a lot but find the overwhelming WE REALLY REALLY LOVE GIN GIN GIN GIN GIN on mn overbearing and a bit "ooh aren't we cool and edgy mentioning it all the time"

Therefore, I'm against a gin emoticon otherwise it will be over used and abused

And get rid of the turdfest that is cadburys

I like the bear! (Even though it's the wrong colour.)Though I can always post this instead.

Would I be banned from MN if I admitted I have never tasted gin in my life? The smell was enough to put me off and I have never been tempted to try it.
