Can we have a topic where name changing is not allowed?

Lots of people feel the 'atmosphere' has been somewhat lost, due to MN becoming so big and so many people name changing for dubious reasons.

So how about a new topic where name changing is not allowed?

So to post in that section, you choose a different name (much like in Mumsnet local). But you have to stick to that name only.

That way, in that section at least, there would be less arses/goady fuckers/Billy bullshitters and drama llamas, hiding behind name changes.

People will become 'regulars' again (in that section at least) and when you go there to chat, you'll at least 'recognise' other people.

OK I'm sure there are 1 million reasons why this is a stupid idea/impossible to set up, but can anyone think of them?

Yes I can see those sadly Thorn I have looked on my phone and Rusty's teeny white squares are rectangular with crosses in on there.

We played a game once on here where you had to guess the mumsnetter by the emoji's. It was very short lived as I could only do one 🍯🐲 and no one could see it anyway.

I actually think this is the best emoji and Apple haven't got one that comes close...I could use this one a lot in real life.

That's why the emoji use on MN is a bit rubbish. Not everyone can see them, and now we have being able to see some but not all. So all a bit pointless really.

Are those of us who see those envelope symbols not using iphone/ipads or the app maybe?

I am using the trusty laptop and my phone neither are Apple. I could get the Ipad out but I can't really be arsed just to see what an emoji is.

I think people should just agree not to use them. Stick with the MN ones and then it's inclusive. It should come under the accessibility policy really, just like the way we agree not to use text speak in case people have difficulty reading.

Yes please to MN only emojis, otherwise it's like reading texts from the DCs.

Yep Quiero - MN ones suffice, perhaps with the addition of new ones or updated ones that look less 'etch-a-sketchy' IYKWIM.

I think the dedicated trolls save themselves for the sex topic. Surely they'd have no interest in blethering with a bunch of old regs.

I use an Apple device and there are still some that don't show up. They must be Android emojis.
