Can we have a topic where name changing is not allowed?

Lots of people feel the 'atmosphere' has been somewhat lost, due to MN becoming so big and so many people name changing for dubious reasons.

So how about a new topic where name changing is not allowed?

So to post in that section, you choose a different name (much like in Mumsnet local). But you have to stick to that name only.

That way, in that section at least, there would be less arses/goady fuckers/Billy bullshitters and drama llamas, hiding behind name changes.

People will become 'regulars' again (in that section at least) and when you go there to chat, you'll at least 'recognise' other people.

OK I'm sure there are 1 million reasons why this is a stupid idea/impossible to set up, but can anyone think of them? Grin

Spectre, we'll have to smuggle them in under our coats and use sparingly😉

magimedi · 30/12/2015 15:31

Sparingly, very, StillStaying Grin

Bear/Exit (Or Brexit? Grin ) - I won't even go to my account page anymore - so frightened I am of it all going tits up.

Sparklingbrook · 30/12/2015 15:32

I suggest instant ejection from topic for use of the following emojis particularly

The poo one
The one with hearts for eyes
The blowing a kiss one
The laughing with water coming out of the eyes one

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 30/12/2015 15:35

I've never used those Sparkers, my favourites are the martini glass, the wink, birthday cake and a firework.

I've never poo-ed anywhere Xmas Wink

IamtheZombie · 30/12/2015 15:35

Exit, Zombie went into her account to grab TheZombieIAm before anyone else did. When she changed back to IamtheZombie a red message flashed up. She entered her password anyway and it worked fine.

MrsHathaway · 30/12/2015 15:36

What's wrong with 💩? Very expressive.

Sparklingbrook · 30/12/2015 15:39

Emojis are just well, teenage aren't they? I'm not on FB or Twitter but I have seen the DSs' feeds and they are awash with emojis. One chat was just one emoji after another with no words. Confused

They were doing emojis cushions in town. DS2 (14) wanted the poo one. Hmm

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 30/12/2015 15:45

I'm not on FB or Twitter either, are emojis overused there?

I'm quite selective when I use mine, I'll try not to piss anyone off, honest Guv😉.

Sparklingbrook · 30/12/2015 15:47

Andy Murray described his wedding day just using emojis on Twitter. Hmm

Teenage boys use the laughing with tears one A LOT. Bants apparently.

Will we having bants in the new topic? Grin

Is it really dangerous to go to My Account? Haven't been there since the height of JeffreyGate, when we had to do the forced password change.

MrsHathaway · 30/12/2015 15:53

Oh I see what you mean.

In my circles you don't use emojis in stuff you publish, eg tweets or status updates, but you certainly do in messages. Reams and reams of messages without a single alphanumeric character used.

Sample conversation between me and DH:

⌚⁉
📈😴⬇
😊💩
😷💣💨🔥❓
😄😜

Ha, I see what you mean! Grin.

Sparklingbrook · 30/12/2015 15:56

So MrsH does that mean

What time is it?
I have a temperature but I am sleeping to get it down
I have had an embarrassing poo
Don't light a match
Not sure

MrsHathaway · 30/12/2015 16:01

What the hell are you doing? Have you seen the time?

DC3 is now asleep and I've put him down.

Cool. I'm going for a poo.

Dear God. Is it going to be foul and loathsome?

Yes, haha.

DoesntLeftoverTurkeySoupDragOn · 30/12/2015 16:01

I love the poo emoji. I bought DS2 a poo emoji cushion for Christmas. I am particularly fond of the way Siri says smiling pile of poo

I have to say I am not entirely sure when is the correct time to use it...

Sparklingbrook · 30/12/2015 16:04

Oh right MrsH, what does the graph mean WRT DC3's sleep? Confused

ExitPursuedByABear · 30/12/2015 17:09

Thanks Zombie. I reported my post to MN and they got in touch. Then I noticed that indeed I was back to normal.

ExitPursuedByABear · 30/12/2015 17:12

Ooooh Brexit. I like that.

Have nabbed it.

Could be very topical next year.

MrsHathaway · 30/12/2015 17:17

Oh, the graph is his emoji name (pun on his real name). The other DC are 🐻 and 🍭 (ditto).

If DH started communicating by emoji alone I would be down to the solicitors pronto. Grin
