Sorry if this has already been asked...
Could we get a 'like' button or something similar for posts/comments we love or agree with etc... ??

OP posts:

Dare i say POPCORN

MimiLaBonq1 · 26/10/2015 18:44

Everyone seems to be against it but I like the idea. Sometimes I don't want to post to say agree with such and such, but would like to be able to recognise their contribution in some way iyswim.

Technically it would be easy as they did a kind of vote button for the Hillary Clinton Q&A section last year. So they know how to do it ;)

SeveredHeadsDragOnTheFloor · 26/10/2015 18:45

You could just use actual words to express your "like"

And dislike, because obviously you'd need both.

ShowOfHands · 26/10/2015 18:45

No. This is not FB. Use your words.

caravanista13 · 26/10/2015 18:49

I think it's a great idea. It's all very well saying use your words, but sometimes the conversation has moved on considerably and it seems a bit odd to actually comment on a much earlier post.

ShowOfHands · 26/10/2015 18:52

Then appreciate the comment for what it is. Something offered in response, not a bid for attention. Just like it. You know, in your head. Like we used to in the good old days.

Sparklingbrook · 26/10/2015 18:56

It's a no from me. be like the Daily Mail with it's arrows.

A 'like' button please?
DonkeyOaty · 26/10/2015 18:59

No.

Great posts from severed showy and sparklers

DonkeyOaty · 26/10/2015 19:00

hugoagogo · 26/10/2015 19:02

Sparklingbrook · 26/10/2015 19:04

"Sorry if this has already been asked...

Yes, it's been asked a billionty times.

It's even been out to user vote.

No. We don't have one, and that's deliberate

ShowOfBloodyStumps · 26/10/2015 19:13

Bwahahahaha

greenhill · 26/10/2015 19:13

MN is not FB. MN promotes discussion, it is not a popularity contest for posters to get the most likes.

It's troll central here some nights, what would it be like if there was a corresponding dislike button?

There are enough accusations flung about MN royalty as it is, without adding to the mix.

TheAnimatedRemainsOfMaryz · 26/10/2015 19:14

Absolutely not.

Not until we get a "hide poster" button

Actually, not even then.

Sparklingbrook · 26/10/2015 19:18

And the [kitten] emoticon .

Love it Showy. Grin

No no no no no. For all the reasons outlined above.

GrouchyKiwi · 26/10/2015 19:25

I don't want one either. I think it discourages conversation and is disengaging.

ShowOfHands · 26/10/2015 20:42

I am prostrate with admiration before every word Arfarfanarf says. I can barely type for clapping. That woman. Those words. Can we all just stand for a minute and silently acknowledge what she has done for us all.

And that, my friends, is how it is done.

I wholeheartedly agree with ShowOfHands never has a truer word been spoken. if only there was a like button so I could click it sycophantically 50 times or until my finger wore out

lunar1 · 26/10/2015 20:56

Maybe when someone gets enough likes MN could award them a crown. That way we would truly know who the MN royalty areGrinGrinGrin

Sparklingbrook · 26/10/2015 21:02

How about a rosette?

A 'like' button please?
