Sorry if this has already been asked...
Could we get a 'like' button or something similar for posts/comments we love or agree with etc... ??

Oh I'm crap on the other 364 days. Just let me have the 31st. Grin

How are you btw Zombie my dear?

IamtheZombie · 26/10/2015 23:25

You're very welcome to share the 31st with Zombie, Show. It's all the faux zombies that crawl out of the woodworm (yes, Zombie meant woodworm - not woodwork) this time of year.

Zombie is shuffling on. The Liver Unit at QEHBirmingham have confirmed they're willing to operate so just waiting for a date. Should be very soon.

ShowOfBloodyStumps · 26/10/2015 23:29

Fingers crossed for a quick date. Well maybe not fingers. I'll cross my stumps, you try to cross your fingers without them rotting off and we'll share a hole in the woodworm for one day of the year. Smile

Holy fucking shit can MN not make a sticky post saying "NO WE WILL NOT ADD A LIKE BUTTON. Not ever, even if you ask reeeeeeeeeeally nicely or send us gin. We will not be moved. Thanks. Passive aggressive smiley face. :)"

UNLESS they haven't entirely written it off. Envy

TheAnimatedRemainsOfMaryz · 26/10/2015 23:33

I have my suspicions too Bertie.

DonkeyOaty · 26/10/2015 23:36

Hmmmmmmmmmmm

BertieBotts · 26/10/2015 23:39

Not getting at OP but this thread comes up so bloody often that I wonder how long somebody has even been here not to see one before (all of five minutes) and yet you come on asking for features? Why? Confused

BunnyBeanz · 27/10/2015 12:22

Yes I am quite new here... So obviously 'not part of the gang' yet. And no, I've not seen any previous posts about said subject... but wish I'd never bothered even posting it now.

How do I delete the whole thread please?

OP posts:
IamtheZombie · 27/10/2015 12:48

Only MNHQ can delete threads but they only tend to do so for very good reasons e.g. identifying personal information. You can try asking them. The easiest way would be for you to report your last post.

thornrose · 27/10/2015 12:54

Aw no, don't get upset. It's just that people who've been here a while have seen this being asked over the years.

It can look like there's a gang you're not part of when you're new but honestly people are just having a laugh. It's not at your expense.

Bloody hell, one of my first posts was about child modelling. Baptism of fire springs to mind.

I brushed myself off and stayed though. Grin

thornrose · 27/10/2015 12:59

Or should I say hosed myself down!

scarevola · 27/10/2015 13:18

It's not really about being part of a gang (which you really don't need to be).

But it is about getting used to a community, which may include learning by mistakes. You can lurk before joining in (probably maximises chances of faux pas), you can use the 'advanced search' function to see what's been said in the last few weeks/months/years about something, or you can just jump in.

The thing to remember is that this is a huge website, with a lot of regular users, and one which has been going for years. The chances if you bring the first person to think of something is actually pretty small (on any subject).

And even with breaking news, chances are there are at least 3 threads in active before you post. (Remember all the threads about Bob Holness? And how it's now mentioned every time there's a duplicate thread thread?)

scarevola · 27/10/2015 13:19

That should be 'maximises chances of avoiding faux pas'

Zombie likes duck. Preferably in black cherry sauce. Grin

TheAnimatedRemainsOfMaryz · 27/10/2015 13:53

Bunny, don't take it to heart Smile

This isn't a gang-up, just that a lot of us who have been here a long time sort of like the fact that it isn't like an awful lot of other sites.

The problem with "likes" here is that there would be accusations of it becoming a population contest.

Who knows, hang around here talking shite like the rest of us long enough and you too might be posting "NO WAY" on some poor newbies thread in ten years a year or so Grin

Oh my goodness Thorn, you didn't? [boggle]

thornrose · 27/10/2015 13:58

I know, it still makes me Blush and it was years ago.

TheAnimatedRemainsOfMaryz · 27/10/2015 14:09

population contest?

popularity contest of course ----

IamtheZombie · 27/10/2015 14:20

MaryZ, are you trying to masquerade as a zombie?

CountBeculaMumsnet · 27/10/2015 15:10

Hi BunnyBeanz - thanks for the suggestion. As you can see, it's not the most popular idea and we don't really feel it would be appropriate for the site as we're all about discussion and debate.

What doesn't kill you, and all that Grin
