Sorry if this has already been asked...
Could we get a 'like' button or something similar for posts/comments we love or agree with etc... ??

Wow - having ploughed through these patronising and self satisfied posts I'm voting for a dislike button.

DonkeyOaty · 26/10/2015 21:32

I ain't self satisfied - I omitted a comma

TheAnimatedRemainsOfMaryz · 26/10/2015 21:35

I have a crown.

Oh

That's overkill, our usual

Humph

Ooh caravanista, I like your style. Not enough to campaign for a like button and retrospectively shower you with likes, I'm saving that adoration for when David Mitchell posts nude selfies on Mumsnet. However, I admire your sass.

greenhill, I'm off to campaign for a 'what greenhill said' button. How's them apples, eh?

Op, in all seriousness, I know exactly why you asked for a like button. Sometimes you really want to let somebody know that they've expressed something well or been amusing or you just want to add some weight to their opinion. It's also a bit of a ballache when people disagree with your probably quite well reasoned argument. We're all messing about. Promise. It's just that Mumsnet has evolved as a forum which champions the sheer simplicity of words. We are all no more, no less than the things we type at any given moment. We don't give weight to the person in that moment, but to the words and it's just that coming together of people to laugh and support and chat and arse about which is a thing of beauty. A like button adds hierarchy and we don't need that. It changes the tone rather. People type stuff I vehemently disagree with. Next to them there are people who type words I want to marry and worship for eternity. However, I think both sets of words should stand alone, as they are, as testament to that person's opinion.

We're all equal here. The like button fragments that perception rather.

I can barely understand what you're typing right now. Is it young person's speak?

CharleyDavidson · 26/10/2015 22:07

I hopped on over to the other side (netmums) in the absence of mnet when it wasn't working one night. The like option there and the running count of how many people liked the comments was really off-putting in my opinion.

TheAnimatedRemainsOfMaryz · 26/10/2015 22:52

Wow, usual has come over all colourful Shock

Showy, where are your stumps? Hallowe'en isn't the same without them.

Can I just apologise to the op - this isn't personal you know Flowers - it's just we've had this a few times in the past and it always descends into a bit of a riot.

AnnaMarlowe · 26/10/2015 22:57

A like button would substantially change the nature of the site.

I think that MN would be poorer for it.

ShowOfBloodyStumps · 26/10/2015 22:58

Look Mummy, no hands.

IamtheZombie · 26/10/2015 22:59

Zombie says NO.

This isn't Facebook. On MN we talk with each other.

If someone says something that moves you or with which you agree, just say so.

ShowOfBloodyStumps · 26/10/2015 23:01

Just to be clear, I'm not calling Maryz mummy, my Hallowe'en name comes with its own .

I won the namechange comp with this name. Did I mention that. DID I?

TheAnimatedRemainsOfMaryz · 26/10/2015 23:06

Did you really?

I never knew that Grin

hackedoffnow · 26/10/2015 23:06

No no no.

ShowOfBloodyStumps · 26/10/2015 23:09

TWICE. I won it TWICE. Screw you Christmas. Hallowe'en is my bitch.

Sadly, I'm all out of ideas now. I've peaked.

IamtheZombie · 26/10/2015 23:18

Yeah, but Zombie is Halloween all year round, Show. Wink
