How do I stop the awful voice over adverts that keep appearing? One for Radox and now one with some bloke talking about London being the most popular city. It's driving me batty! The only thing that stops them is to close down mumsnet everytime.

I'm using Firefox and have the latest version of both Flash and Firefox and the ads are driving me nuts. They are so slow to load that Firefox hangs really badly. They all seem to be autoplay, I can't work out how to stop them loading. I've reosrted do adblocking MN now, it's normally stored as an exception as I know you generate revenue from them but I just can't use the site at the moment with them. I'm having the same issue on both PCs I use.

Blodss · 13/10/2015 19:48

Right, I am getting the adds as well. Very alarming actually when you cant see anything.
Im also getting a pop up at the bottom of the page that is asking me if I want to open a different server but when I google this server I am told it is malware and that the site it is appearing on is possible infected. So they are saying that Mumsnet is infecting. Also having problems with typing going very slow. Have noticed many other posts with the same problem.
I think you have a problem.

Allalonenow · 13/10/2015 22:06

I'm still getting these ads, Fosters lager ( it starts off with rugby and dancing stuff) London tourist stuff, also one with Pink Grapefruit and Fennel in lettering at the start perhaps it's Radox?

They load very slowly and are slowing down the site for me, making it difficult to type/post and to read.

Why can't you just tell us how to turn them off???? Can it be done in options?????

I'm getting irrate now, and me so very easy going too!!!!!

lifesalongsong · 13/10/2015 22:44

I'm so glad I've seen this and the other thread, I really thought my PC was on its last legs it's been going so slowly. I use Firefox and desktop site.

Blodss · 13/10/2015 22:46

Report your post life so MN will see that there are more of us with this problem. I use IE.

UsernameIncorrect · 13/10/2015 22:48

That London ad is weird. It's like a 1950s style ad aimed at children. I watched it all waiting for the witty punchline.

cuttingpicassostoenails · 14/10/2015 07:13

5 minutes on mumsnet and it's started again. I am a bit pissed off with this. Is there nothing that can be done?

Joining you in pissed-offness, cutting - just logged on and that bloody radox ad started up about 3 or 4 minutes in - on a thread about bereavement, ffs Angry - it starts off really loud so always makes me jump. I'm about all in with this, won't be using mn on desktop until you've sorted this out, tech, it makes it impossible to use - again, it slowed the page, my computer was making a horrible noise and heating up - my broadband isn't fab and can't take this. Please sort this out.

EmpressKnowsWhereHerTowelIs · 14/10/2015 10:34

Colette - is all this happening because you're using AdChoices?

ColetteTech · 14/10/2015 11:17

Hi All, thanks for the reports and big thanks to those who've mailed in screengrabs Flowers.
I think we've managed to find the culprits and have now blocked them, could you let me know if they are still appearing in 15 minutes time, so after 11:30am?

cuttingpicassostoenails · 15/10/2015 23:19

Aha! I have the answer. Between the hours of 0300 and 0500 there are no voice ads.

Allalonenow · 15/10/2015 23:37

Silence and sanity seem to have been restored last night and so far tonight (Wed & Thursday).
Very many thanks for getting rid of them!!

Hope you have a peaceful night Brew Cake

DawnMumsnet · 16/10/2015 12:21

Glad everything's peaceful on the site for you, Allalonenow.

How about you, cuttingpicassos?

AyeAmarok · 16/10/2015 21:59

Mine seems okay too *touch wood.

cuttingpicassostoenails · 17/10/2015 05:02

Oooohhhh...that's better! Thankyou Dawn.

Glad to hear it. Smile

Please do continue to report any other noisy ads that crop up.

HamaTime · 20/10/2015 18:41

I keep getting a film advert. It might be Jurassic Park but I'm not sure because it's so annoying I have to shut it down.

Laptop and safari here

BetterTogether · 20/10/2015 20:58

I've been getting the Jurassic Park advert a lot today too. Just came onto site stuff to see if anything had been said about it. So annoying!

I'm on an iPhone using mobile site through safari.

senua · 20/10/2015 23:27

Another annoyed poster here, getting the Jurassic audio advert. I keep turning it off and it keeps turning itself back on again. I am not impressed with your adverts overriding my laptop settings.

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 21/10/2015 00:08

Yes Jurassic World here too, every time I go to Active posts or similar - this is on desktop PC in my case. Very loud and annoying, especially late at night..

CalmYoBadSelf · 21/10/2015 00:14

I'm still getting the Jurassic one too every time I open a thread. Bloody annoying!

I'm on laptop using IE

CalmYoBadSelf · 21/10/2015 07:25

Jurassic one is still doing it this morning, please make it stop. I can't be doing with having to jump to switch it off all the time

Pyjamaface · 21/10/2015 09:11

Another one suffering with Jurassic Park. I had a bad shift last night and little sleep and it is stomping all over my last nerve. On desktop on Chrome

RatOnnaStick · 21/10/2015 09:52

OH FOR FUCKS SAKE GET THAT DAMN ADVERT OFF. THREE TIMES IN FIVE MINUTES IS RIDICULOUS.

Angry
IonaMumsnet · 21/10/2015 10:05

Hi folks! Sorry about this. We are trying to sort this one right now. Just rounding up the dinosaurs.
