I've noticed a few posts where the pound sign is coming out as two question marks. I don't know about my own posts yet (I will test in this post!) but I don't know if it's MN or me.

??

Ok that ^ was supposed to be a pound sign but on my preview it's coming out as two question marks. Is it just me?

(Chrome on windows laptop)

Euro sign gone too ??????

As a poster pointed out on another thread, MN's code is parsing out too many special characters. I'm sure this has been done as part of tightening up security, but they need to use a different filter. (I had this on loads of my old sites until I figured it out.)

£ Chromium (not Chrome!) Ubuntu.

Garrick · 12/09/2015 15:50

in the preview on my TIO that comes up as &pound.

I can explain that :) The html for £ is £ Threads I'm On truncates the text after so many characters - so, for instance, you might see the first few letters of the last word before it cuts off.

Because it truncated "£" - the semicolon was missing - your browser didn't have the entire code and treated it as text. You quite often see the same thing with "&" (&) or "<" (

Am I alone in now seeing apostrophes as ??
