I'm wondering how many passwords are now variants of 'fuckoffhackers' or 'diehackerdie' etc

And possibly easier to hack. Just screen through variations of insults. :)

It may be an interesting phishing file to read.

LetTheChipsFall · 20/08/2015 14:24

I did ask on the other thread but it got missed in the move over to this one. Can deleted accounts be accessed in a hack?

RebeccaMumsnet · 20/08/2015 14:24

@diddl

I reset this morning as it was the only way for me to get in.

(Had also reset a few days ago when asked)

I'm doing as I'm told!Grin

Excellent, once you are in, you're in. If it happens again, try clicking on the logo and see if it takes you to the homepage and then back to Talk from there. You shouldn't have to put in your log in several times in one session unless they are incorrect and we will let you know if that's the case via a warning on the page.

Post if it happens again and possibly screengrab?

I was on the list and yet I have not been forced to change my password to the newer complicated one.

I've done it off my own back (a couple of minutes ago) but I wasn't forced to.

I'm on desktop if that helps?

PlayingSolitaire · 20/08/2015 14:27

I cannot log in through the Safari browser Sad. Can anyone else?

I was definitely not logged out of the App last night - just kept receiving a message that the ipad 'couldn't connect to MN'. Not a problem as it turned out because I knew of the issues so just logged in again but if I hadn't been aware of what was happening, I might have thought it was anything but a terminated session.

(That was the old App and not the new version which is under testing.)

JeffreySadsacIsUnwell · 20/08/2015 14:37

Are we now being auto logged off? I deregged and reregged with a new email address (had been meaning to do so for a while, anyway, having had to rereg with a temp email after heartbleed). Deregged yesterday, waited till after the forced pw reset to rereg today. I didn't log out of the session as I've been doing other stuff online in the meantime, just flipped back to MN and noticed I'd been logged out. I shouldn't have had a forced logout since lunchtime, surely, as a) new reg today and b) pw fully compliant (too compliant - I forgot the various levels of complications!)?

I've still not received an email from MN about the hacking, btw. If I hadn't logged on this week, I wouldn't know anything about it.

SarfEasticatedMumma · 20/08/2015 14:38

Weird stuff has happened to my gmail as I tried to reset my password it created a new gmail account for me doublebarelling my surname with DH surname. I never do this so it was weird. I then attempted to log back into my gmail and gmail said they had no record of that email address.
I have no idea what was going on there, but just so you all know to keep an eye on it.

JeffreySadsacIsUnwell · 20/08/2015 14:41

Solitaire yes, I've just logged in through Safari.

Have you got your settings set to autofill? If so, it might be trying to autofill your old pw and submit so first you know is a failed login? Happened to me ages ago on a different site.

Go to settings, Safari, then check whether the autofill toggle is on or off. You should delete the old MN password if you have it saved there (I did, happens by default unless you switch function off, so I have to manually remove ones I don't want saved).

patterkiller · 20/08/2015 14:47

Well, eventually got the official first email through at 1.30pm today. Forewarned and all that. Wink

DizziDoll · 20/08/2015 14:48

Is has gone very quiet on here :-(

I do hope that these criminals are cought soon and we can all get back to normal. If nothing else, it has been a great reminder to be smart about passwords.

PleaseLetThisNameChangeWork · 20/08/2015 14:48

My previous log-in and password was on the published list. Although I had different passwords on different sites, I was widely using the email address that was on my account information and other ID info was also visible there, so thought a wholesale change all round wouldn't do any harm. Might be a bit 'after the horse has bolted' but thought it was worth doing anyway.

LatinForTelly · 20/08/2015 14:54

That was weird. I'd been locked out since this morning. I didn't receive my password reset email until I'd gone on to yahoo and accessed my emails from there, after which they downloaded to my Windows livemail.

I don't understand, it's like there was a block on mumsnet getting to my livemail. (I got a couple of other mails.)

Also, the initial page just had the type in your new password twice type message. Nothing about the hack. URL was prefaced by https but was yellow not green. Is this dodgy?

I am jumpy because although I don't have the same password for anything, I was on the list, so presumably they have my email address if they want.

shopafrolic · 20/08/2015 14:58

So now I am being logged out, but not forced to change my password when I log back in.........

PlayingSolitaire · 20/08/2015 14:59

JeffreySadSac - thank you for trying to help me. I have tried all that now you have suggested it (I had no idea the ipad stored all the passwords in a file! That was quite an eye opener). However, I still can't log in to Mumsnet through Safari after all that. Wherever I try to log in from, I get defaulted back to that page after attempting to log in, but I am never actually logged in. Really weird as I have logged in fine through Google and through the mobile (android) app.

RebeccaMumsnet Thank you for your confirmation above, much appreciated.

ProfYaffle · 20/08/2015 15:00

Please I feel the same as you. I was on the list too and have done similar changes to other passwords etc I'm glad really that it's prompted me to check what was on my profile here, I was shocked at how much information I'd slowly added over the years (Not publicly visible) I've deleted all of it now.

PlayingSolitaire · 20/08/2015 15:04

OK. Weird stuff going on now- been logged out of facebook on the ipad facebook app...

Halsall · 20/08/2015 15:05

Sorry, I've missed the vital bit of info in the welter of threads/posts, but.....where do I find the 'published list' referred to above that has the usernames AND passwords on it? I found the list of usernames and I'm on it, unfortunately. But I'd like to see the list with the password too, if it's been put up somewhere.

I've changed my password 3 times now, incidentally, so the old one won't be much use to anyone anyway. But I'd still like to keep informed.

PleaseLetThisNameChangeWork · 20/08/2015 15:06

Agree with you ProfYaffle about being surprised how much information was on my account. I've also been going through my PMs as I've had addresses and other info on there as well. Who knows what has or hasn't been looked at.

SuffolkNWhat · 20/08/2015 15:06

Have you changed your settings to delete cookies and stop auto fill? If you have that will log you out automatically

Dothetwist · 20/08/2015 15:09

The twitter account has recently posted that their is more to come..

LoveandMonsters · 20/08/2015 15:14

That twitter page gives me the creeps. The clown was bad enough, but they've got the MN logo in red, with men holding hammers and axes.

Creepy, creepy men.

herderofcats · 20/08/2015 15:16

Is anyone else getting a log-in box, despite being logged in already? It's in the middle of the screen and mn is behind it.

howtorebuild · 20/08/2015 15:18
