We will post here throughout the day with updates and info, please do post any questions and we will get to them as soon as possible.

If you need to get in touch off of the boards, please email [email protected], we have a team of people working through the inbox now and will get back to you ASAP but please do bear with us, it's very busy.

There is also a specific thread about passwords here.

Thanks all

Marks place

GloGirl · 20/08/2015 10:15

Still not had a forced log off, I previously reported it for the mobile site on my android phone.

Just opened up Mumsnet in my Chrome browser on desktop PC and I'm still here.

Will do a password reset now anyway (if I can remember yesterdays!)

howtorebuild · 20/08/2015 10:16

Mark.

LoopyLily · 20/08/2015 10:16

Thanks for new thread.

NewNameFor2015 · 20/08/2015 10:16

I'll ask my question again here :) have the passwords been reset again? I just tried to sign in with my new password and it wouldnt let me. I signed in via facebook in the end. Not a problem, I dont mind doing that, but just wondered if they'd be reset a second time?

RepeatAdNauseum · 20/08/2015 10:16

No password reset for me either - Google Chrome and Android phone.

Arkkorox · 20/08/2015 10:18

Thanks Rebecca.

CakeBrewFlowers for you guys working your socks off at MNHQ

MagpieCursedTea · 20/08/2015 10:18

Place marking and opening the biscuits. Jammy dodger anyone? Is it too early for gin?

wickedlazy · 20/08/2015 10:18

I didn't have to reset? (Although I did last nighy so maybe just did it early?)

acatcalledjohn · 20/08/2015 10:18

I think the best tip still is to change all passwords for websites on which you use the same email/password combination as MN.

DP mentioned dictionary hacks (or whatever the exact name), basically referring to hacking systems' ability to recognise 'password' in various forms such as p4ssw0rd, pa55w0rd, etc. apparently sticking a random letter in front of a word, replacing some letters with numbers, and adding some numbers at the end, makes it harder to crack.

My password list is getting rather complicated now...

SnakeyMcBadass · 20/08/2015 10:19

On android phone, still not been booted.

wannaBe · 20/08/2015 10:19

I reset my password earlier anyway and it's secure but can someone tell me about logging in through social media e.g. fb and the like? presumably I couldn't then log in using this username?

Shutthatdoor · 20/08/2015 10:19

Place marking

StephanieBeacham · 20/08/2015 10:20

Hello

Thank you for this Rebecca

PurpleDaisies · 20/08/2015 10:20

Newname there was a second forced log out and reset last night around 1030pm ish. Does that fit with when you got logged out again?

scatterthenuns · 20/08/2015 10:22

Hi all.

NewNameFor2015 · 20/08/2015 10:22

I dont know exactly how it works wannabe, but I am able to use this username and flit between social media sign on and password sign on (at least I was!) Yesterday before I reset my password I was able to sign in and post via social media. :)

Arkkorox · 20/08/2015 10:22

Surely logging in via facebook puts your fb at risk? No?

goblindoor · 20/08/2015 10:23

Marking.

NewNameFor2015 · 20/08/2015 10:24

yes it does Purple, Sorry I am following all of this, but these threads are moving too fast!! Yes I reset my password yesterday morning. I think I will wait a little longer before attempting to reset it again. Poor MNHQ :(

MadrigalElectromotive · 20/08/2015 10:24

Marking place. Smile

iamaboveandBeyond · 20/08/2015 10:25

Posting my question again too as its near the end of th3

If you are def logged out and there is a redirect to a phishing page, can it log you in? I assume not, but have no idea tbh.

98percentchocolate · 20/08/2015 10:25

I think most people missed my last post on thread three so posting again here:

Anyone else feeling awfully sorry for MNHQ workers? They must be utterly exhausted. I'm guessing they may have another night of it tonight, and if so would anybody up for sending them pizza to get them through the night? Obviously I'm not talking about collecting details as that would be beyond stupid considering, just thinking about phoning their local dominos/Pizza Hut personally and ordering individually?

Please slap me down if this is a stupid idea!

NewNameFor2015 · 20/08/2015 10:26

I dont think so ark...it was explained to me many moths ago (for a different website that only had fb log in) but I dont remember the ins and outs of it. But I do remember it was secure.

akkakk · 20/08/2015 10:26

Arkkorox
Single-sign-on with Facebook et al is generally fairly secure...

however it does have other issues in that facebook will then share a lot of information with the website you have just signed into - don't know whether MN use it, but they would have access to your friends lists etc...
