MN making safari crash?

DishwasherDogs · 17/03/2015 10:27

Every time I have been on Mn this morning it keeps crashing safari.
It doesn't do it on any other website.
I'm using an iPad.
Any ideas what's going on or how I can fix it?

Yep, really bad this evening. Just can't be bothered with the hassle anymore.

EcclefechanTart · 13/04/2015 22:46

HORRENDOUS this evening. Almost unusable. Can't anything be done about this at all?

Halsall · 14/04/2015 11:49

It seems to be adding another layer of torture now - I was trying to post on a fast-moving thread last night, and every time I posted (which in itself repeatedly involved the dreaded 'cannot parse response'), it returned the display to the first post on the thread rather than the one I'd just added - meaning I had to keep frantically whizzing to the end, again and again and again. Which, on a long thread, is tedious in the extreme.

Oh, and I notice someone else has posted about being unable to copy and paste. I'm getting that too. And anything I do manage to paste is often a previous bit of copied text, not the one I've just actually copied, iyswim.

It really has reached a point of unusability for me Angry

ReluctantCamper · 14/04/2015 14:20

So bad today. Pleas, please, please fix this. The site is practically unusable.

ReluctantCamper · 14/04/2015 14:20

Ironically, the site crashed first time I attempted to post this. Grrr.

bananayellow · 14/04/2015 23:36

Really really bad tonight. Virtually everytime I click on something.

JustJanice · 14/04/2015 23:43

This is getting bloody ridiculous.

AgathaChristie01 · 15/04/2015 11:02

Any update please, MN?

Rosa · 15/04/2015 11:05

I only go on when I am on the Pc as I have no paitence any more , its been going on for too long now

Miss60 · 15/04/2015 11:06

I am only visiting MN sporadically as I no longer enjoy the sight as I used to. So sad to be losing out on a place I come to for relaxation and support :(

Miss60 · 15/04/2015 11:08

Dang, site

ReluctantCamper · 15/04/2015 13:13

Pleeeeeeaaaaase fix this. It's making the site unusable. I've had to resort to Sanctimommy on Facebook to get my dose of crazy, judgypants mums.

Guitargirl · 15/04/2015 22:31

Yes it's happening a lot to me too and I am definitely spending less time on here. Probably not a bad thing to be honest!

Still doing it. Sometimes worse than others but still very very annoying.

SunshineAndShadows · 16/04/2015 08:38

Crashing repeatedly for me too - what is the issue?

Halsall · 16/04/2015 11:03

MNHQ can someone update us, please? It's appalling for me this morning. Probably worse than ever.

There's some intractable issue with Threads I'm On - they take ages to load, then freeze and just never, never resolve. It seems to be worst with one particular thread, probably the one I visit most often, as though somehow that has something to do with it.

I tried logging out, and then the thread loaded fine when I opened it. Logged back in, and it immediately froze.

It's beyond ridiculous now, I'm sorry.

catbite · 16/04/2015 11:20

MNHQ, don't mean to be rude but do you actually have professional IT support or is "tech" just someone's DH tinkering in his spare time?

This problem had gone on for a month now. I can't use Firefox for Mumsnet at all, and when I use it in IE it runs scripts that take up 100% of my CPU, so the whole thing runs like a tortoise. What on earth have you done to your site to sabotage it so completely?

P.s. Typing this on my HTC phone as it's working fine in that browser.

catbite · 16/04/2015 12:13

Have now downloaded and installed Chrome, to see if it's any better. Will keep you posted.

(But I am actually meant to be working from home, not fixing browser issues so I can moonlight on Mumsnet .... sigh!)

Baddz · 16/04/2015 12:18

Still happening despite me updating all my devices.
Getting a bit pissed off with this now...

catbite · 16/04/2015 12:22

Update - Chrome is working like a dream so far. Just like the good old days - no waiting ages for threads to load.

MNHQ, have you taken on Google sponsorship without telling anyone?

KateSMumsnet · 16/04/2015 12:34

Hullo everyone,

We're so sorry this is being such a pita. We have had our tech team looking into this, and they say it isn't an issue our end of things. It seems to be a bug in Safari, so they've raised it with Apple and are looking for a way to avoid the bug from triggering.

They're still very much looking for a solution to the problem, but at the moment they haven't been able to isolate the issue, which means they can't put in a fix. As far as we can tell at moment, the crashes seem to be completely random.

The only other thing we can suggest is updating your iOS, which seems to help some people.

We're really sorry - we do realise how annoying this must be, we are trying everything we can to get it fixed. Do keep talking to us, and we'll update you if we have any more news for you Flowers Brew Cake

catbite · 16/04/2015 12:50

But KateSMumsnet, it isn't just Safari, it's also happening in Firefox and IE. It would be a bit of a coincidence if there was a bug in all three!

storytopper · 16/04/2015 12:55

Mumsnet with Safari is a nightmare - sorry to say I'm having the same problem with Chrome. Both on iPad. Might update my version of iOS and see if that makes a difference.
