Why does MN keep freezing?

educatingarti · 16/03/2015 13:08

I'm accessing MN from a laptop using Chrome browser. For the last couple of days MN is being very slow to upload threads with lots of messages and keeps freezing after I've clicked on a few threads (no response to any mouse clicks except to close the page). I've guessed that MN have been spying on how much I've been time wasting when I should be working on the boards and have decided to help me by freezing things after so many minutes but please - how do I stop this! I need to feed my MN addiction!

Same issues here as firecrest. Not happening with other websites.

CishAndFips · 18/03/2015 09:24

same here browser on tablet will say page has become unresponsive, particullarly on larger threads.

OnlyLovers · 18/03/2015 09:34

I'm finding it v slow to load, too.

And a new problem, today –I can't see 'threads of the day' in the top right corner. It just says 'Mumsnet Talk' as a header as usual, and then 'error'. Is this just me?

Gatekeeper · 18/03/2015 09:37

chrome on pc and Ipad; Mumsnet is unresponsive and freezes

I have also noticed that when i click on a link contained in a post, when I then close the link all the text disappears from Mumsnet and I have to close it down and reopen

Mine's playing up too - I'm using Firefox.

Accessing the site via my phone (active convos usually) is a whole different level of annoying, having to scroll through endless out of date crap before the actual active stuff starts.

educatingarti · 18/03/2015 11:10

Still doing it!

'threads of the day' seems to be back. The site is very slow still, though. I'll let everyone know when/if HQ reply to me.

cardoon · 18/03/2015 13:28

Why is the MN site so temperamental? Confused

BsshBosh · 18/03/2015 14:16

It's crashing on my iPad - both Chrome app and Safari browsers

PurpleFrog · 18/03/2015 14:35

Me too - Safari on iPad and Macbook Pro - almost unusable. It doesn't help that many of the threads I am following are long ones.

SaskiaRembrandtWasFramed · 18/03/2015 14:59

I'm using Firefox, and have a problem with scripts failing to load which makes the page hang.

BeccaMumsnet · 18/03/2015 15:07

Hi everyone - sorry we've taken a little while to get back to you all.

We have flagged these issues to Tech and they are looking into it now.

CheeseandPickledOnion · 18/03/2015 15:46

Firefox and I get the long running script error all the time.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/03/2015 15:51

I cannot actually use safari at all on my ipad so I've been using puffin, which quite frankly is not a very good browser.

BeccaMumsnet · 18/03/2015 17:10

Hi everyone - Tech have sorted a fix for this so it should be back to normal soon. We're sorry this has taken a little while, and thanks so much for your patience.

Rosa · 19/03/2015 14:43

Its still happening Ipad / safari... When you click on a thread it takes you out of MN back to home screen.... Or is it just me????

ProfYaffle · 19/03/2015 15:42

Still happening for me too (Chrome on laptop) When I click on Threads I'm On or Threads I'm Watching, if I then try to click through to an individual thread everything freezes.

BowiesJumper · 20/03/2015 13:57

Yes the longer threads are still doing it on the iphone (safari) and some need a couple of loads on the desktop/firefox.

educatingarti · 20/03/2015 14:54

Still happening earlier this morning to me too!

Hi everyone - we're so sorry this is still happening.

We'll get back to Tech and let them know.

Thank you so much for posting and keeping us updated.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 20/03/2015 15:30

Ah good - I was just going to come and complain - it started happening again on my laptop, Chrome, Windows 7 (MN Classic) and I got so frustrated I just closed the MN tab down.

BlueEyeshadow · 20/03/2015 22:34

I've been getting issues with flash crashing and an error message about stop, cancel or debug scripts.

I'm using Firefox on the desktop site. I ended up updating Flash in frustration, but as soon as I came back onto MN it started again. Not totally sure if it's a MN issue or a Flash one.

Also getting certain posts on threads not loading properly when I click through from Threads I'm On. Just get a blank screen with the headings at the top.

Gatekeeper · 24/03/2015 08:58

still happening with me; logs me off every other page I click on and takes me out of mumsnet completely. Very annoying!

Gatekeeper · 24/03/2015 08:59

on IPAD using IS07

BeccaMumsnet · 24/03/2015 10:04

Hi everyone - we're so sorry this is still happening.

Tech have suggested updating your browser (e.g. Safari/Chrome, not iOS), but other than that, they are still looking into this issue.

Please do let us know if it seems to be getting worse/better.

Thanks so much for your patience Cake
