Er I hope it doesn't come to this but where would we all go if mumsnet closed?

Seriously. OK so we'll do all we can to prevent that happening and so will Mumsnet HQ but what if the worst happens? Will we all have to talk to our husbands? Or descend on BadMothersClub? Seriously, we should have a place planned to 'meet' if we all log on one morning and it's not here. Shouldn't we?

Can't bring myself to post really but I'm sure we'd be directed elsewhere beforehand.

Nemo1977 · 08/08/2006 07:44

www do you seriously think it will close???????????

KTeePee · 08/08/2006 07:45

I was actually thinking that in some ways it might be a "good thing" for me personally as I might do something more constructive with my time!

SherlockLGJ · 08/08/2006 07:46

Ever heard of a phoenix ??

whimsy · 08/08/2006 07:48

I hope that never happens.

WideWebWitch · 08/08/2006 07:49

Nemo, it is a possibility I think. I really hope it doesn't happen though, it's been so brilliant for me, I've been here 4 years and have some great friends here.

I was going to start a thread on this, but didn't want to be doom laden. It's true, we should have somewhere to meet if, this dreadful situation causes, dare I say it, a temporary shutdown.

As Sherlock says 'Phoenix Stylee' So where is a good place to have our revolution, God forbid we have to?

I really, really hope it doesn't end up going that far but I seriously doubt I'd bother going elsewhere tbh. I think I'd try to use it as a positive chance to be less reliant on MN.

I think that moving the MN community en masse to another site, no matter how welcoming, would be a big anti-climax. The atmosphere would be v different. After all, the reason we all use MN as our main (if not, only) parenting chat site is because it offers us something better than the others, IYSWIM.

I would hope that MN would reappear in another guise, if the lawyers got their pound of flesh.

Uwila · 08/08/2006 08:45

If NOBODY succeeds (and I don't think she will), I'm going to start a capaign for the users of this fine website to coutersue. The information on mumsnet is priceless.

Personally, I expect NOBODY has realised by now that she cut off her nose despite her face when she threatened our beloved Mumsnet. Woke a sleeping giant so to speak. And I doubt she will do it again.

katierocket · 08/08/2006 08:47

Don't talk about it. It can't happen.

Uwila · 08/08/2006 08:48

NDP, I expect a new site just like MN would rise up. We wouldn't need to merge into some other existing one.

But, it isn't going to come to that. MN will survive. Failure is not an option.

I was going for more of a Winston Churchillesque effect. But, borg will do.

Isn't this why the whole thing is so ridiculous though? Mumsnet would close so we'd all go somewhere else to talk, even about SWMNBN. SO what's the point?

I flew with Freddie Laker

I've always thought it could be a real possibility that mnet could close. If you can't afford to fight the legal action you close, no matter who would actually win a case.

Churchill - borg... both works for me and www

I'm sure mn would emerge on another domain that's why the internet is so great no assimilation required.

WorldFamousAuthor · 08/08/2006 09:48

I reckon we should all bite the bullet and scrape together 40 quid and all join CCLB forum - oh what fun
