Hi Julie,
There appear to be a lot of us unable to post from or laptops and computers. We are all getting the message

Sorry we are not accepting new threads right now.

Can you help us out?

Well, it can only be described as Rocky Road without the biscuit.

Shock filth.

MadameDefarge · 01/01/2014 02:29

Rocky Road without the biscuit hey... sounds good to me Xmas Grin I'd settle for vanilla tonight tbh.

DoYouLikeMyBaubles · 01/01/2014 02:38

Without the biscuit?

Without the sodding biscuit?

Am I reading this right?

ChippingInLovesChristmasLights · 01/01/2014 02:38

They should have asked Olivia to keep an eye on it tonight - she wasn't going to be out partying Xmas Grin

Good luck sorting it out tomorrow Rebecca - whichever way you look at it, it's not pretty.

BitchytheGreat · 01/01/2014 02:41

Hopefully Olivia is getting what sleep she can. Grin

HepsibarCrinkletoes · 01/01/2014 03:52

Woah. Lay off Julie. Wrong call maybe, but does not deserve a kicking.

giraffesCantSledge · 01/01/2014 06:40

Julie seems a bit power mad! I think she need some training.
Maybe apply to work at NM?

TY Rebecca for popping ina nd sorting things.

giraffesCantSledge · 01/01/2014 06:41

I had actually planned a MN new year - ordered chinese and was going to stay up on here chatting. But ended up falling asleep at half past 8! Lucky I did as seems I would have been talking to myself

CarpeVinum · 01/01/2014 08:29

testing testing

DoesntLeftoverTurkeySoupDragOn · 01/01/2014 08:30

No, you would have had to wade through loads of "hilarious" "joke" threads. It was pointless. I watched TV instead.

DoesntLeftoverTurkeySoupDragOn · 01/01/2014 08:31

Julie seems a bit power mad! I think she need some training.

Lay off her FGS. She was working on NYE and doing her best.

HappTeeNewYear · 01/01/2014 08:34

FFS

Really glad I went to bed early.

No sense of humour at the Towers lately.

And inexperienced, wet behind the ears "Community Managers" on NYE.

Well done, MN. Really. I mean that.

Mumsnet has changed for the worst in my opinion. We are all being punished for something that a few people have done!

StealthPolarBear · 01/01/2014 08:49

I missed all this. I feel very sorry for Julie - the 'jokey' threads often kick off with many posters demanding that MNHQ come and ban someone/delete posts etc immediately. I also do not think that MNHQ will be talking about how they will 'deal with'/retrain Julie, that would be extremely unprofessional.

EirikurNoromaour · 01/01/2014 08:53

You know what HQ? I was in tears at mignight. Feeling lonely, abandoned and miserable. I tried to post happy new year on the drunk thread to have somebody to say it to. Your decision to suspend posting at that time was utterly shit, stupid and fucking disrespectful to the vast majority of mumsnetters who you know use mumsnet at times when they are alone and need some company. I'm disgusted and dismayed to find that that was done deliberately. Terrible call.

AngryBirdRoast · 01/01/2014 08:54

Punished? Seriously? The site had to close to new threads for what, about half an hour, to sort out the overwhelming mess some eejits were making of it, (which was getting in the way of the 'much needed support' you seem to be citing) and you guys are starting alternative forums?

I fail to believe that there is any perspective at work here.

LiberalLibertine · 01/01/2014 08:55

LBE I'm so sorry to hear your news, of anyone can kick it's ass though it's you. Flowers

MrsCampbellBlack · 01/01/2014 08:55

Quite stealth. I would hope MN support their staff and look at why things went a bit wrong, not blaming one person.

And people are always complaining on here about threads not being deleted quickly enough - I imagine MN were inundated with reports and then there's the danger that some really offensive stuff stays up whilst the 'joke's' are being dealt with.

StealthPolarBear · 01/01/2014 08:56

Angry, I was just about to make that point. I start my share of stupid threads, but many many stupid threads in a short space of time surely just bumps threads from people who actually need support off Active Conversations.

AngryBirdRoast · 01/01/2014 08:57

And it isn't MN's fault that some of us are alone.

Take some responsibility - I'm alone with three children, I've been ill, the house is a mess and what did I do? Go to bed at about 10, eat some cake, and get some sleep.

No one NEEDS to stay awake till midnight and kiss someone/talk to someone/ etc. I really think this is a bit OTT.

Though I am sorry for the other lonely people.

I am lonely too quite often but I don't think MNHQ owes me anything.

SilveryMoon · 01/01/2014 09:00

I think it's in bad taste to leave this thread going actually. I wasn't here last night so didn't see what happened, but from what I can gather here, MNHQ has new staff who are training. New staff in their training period were expected to adequately moderate MN on a busy-pissed-up night. It went a bit wrong, new staff panicked and made a decision that most disagree with and have stated that here. MN sent someone else in 'to sort it out' which took 2 minutes, and you've told us all that it's because she's new and we all fuck up.
Seriously?
I don't think I'd be back if I were Julie. It doesn't seem the rest of HQ has been very supportive of a situation that went tits up because of a decision they made to leave a new member of staff in charge in the first place.
Poor Julie, hope she's ok.

(If I have misunderstood anything, and have this all wrong, I will apologise, but this is how it looks to me)

ApplesinmyPocket · 01/01/2014 09:03

An inexperienced MNHQer was left in charge of MN on a busy and over-excited night, she probably panicked, she didn't make the right call. But imagine how she likely felt - so much responsibility, and MN seemingly going a bit mad - I'm sure she tried to do the right thing and just do her job of keeping the place running smoothly on a crazy night. Yes most think she got it wrong! but what happened here? people couldn't post (except they could) for a few hours on an internet forum - but for Julie, I bet she went to bed distressed and anxious and dreading today as anyone does when they know they've made a blunder.

Let's all be a little kinder, yes?
