HemmingGate: To ban or not to ban, that is the question MNHQ

Some of us would like to know if a certain politico will be banned, proper.

No rush.

We know you have a lot on your plate with ... stuff.

(I probably got two quotes mixed up in subject line. Don't panic! It's me not you. Am philistine. Italy is wasted on me. Not keen on art, prefer shopping.)

Politics page today.....double page redtop feature tomorrow......keep the faith. He is used to fucking with women who can't fight back. He fucked himself supremely this time.

PacificDogwood · 01/01/2014 12:40

I am quite Hmm that the fact he misbehaved on MN gets more inches than the misinforming, alarmist content he has form for spouting...

MurderOfGoths · 01/01/2014 12:45

Pacific It's a bit off balance isn't it?

Name vulnerable children on a large public forum despite not being legally allowed to and refuse to apologise = Meh.
Get suspended from a forum = Big news.

Hmm
LakeDistrictBabe · 01/01/2014 12:45

Well, happy New Year everybody!

Come on Mumsnet, give us a present... Ban the mighty silly one.. You know who I mean....

MP For the Naughty Step must become MP for the unemployed... Starting with him!

CarpeVinum · 01/01/2014 12:47

Pacific

It's the popularist hook. That will garner the attention required to force home the need for accountstibilty on more serious matters.

I am very graftful to My John Hemming MP for liberally splashing all over the the thread(s) all the hook we needed. Grin

Thanks John, bottom of my heart. Seriously. You couldn't have done more to help.

Totally agree Pacific. But good work otherwise

PacificDogwood · 01/01/2014 12:49

Oh yes, off course he has aided and abetted his own pratt-fall by misjudging this quite badly, but you'd've thought that somebody would have picked up on the legal angle.

I'll have to be patient, won' I?
This does not come naturally to me.
Oil tanker, not speed boat...

CarpeVinum · 01/01/2014 12:55

AdamWagner just retweeted the guardian link.

Funny really that it was his own blog wot done it. Rope anyone?

Tiredemma · 01/01/2014 13:00

The phrase 'shot yourself in the foot' springs to mind.

CarpeVinum · 01/01/2014 13:01

Pacific the legal angle is a harder sell, smacks of "boring" to your average reader.

But "not sober" and banned from mumsnet ? Now that they can use to keep the story running into the legal angle and the ... vulnerable women and their legal docs angle.

Also In terms of making it to the red tops and goose cooking... it's a gift.

Had ai not been here when it happened I would have flicked past "Hemming does legal naughty" headlines (bear in mind I had never heard of him until a coiple of weeks ago) but "not sober" and banned from mumsnet... ohhh I'd be like a fly on shit with that one.

And then when the legal analysis started, I'd have registered "sozzled mumsnet man !" and read, gaining interest in the other more important aspects.

CarpeVinum · 01/01/2014 13:11

Me too.

She has put up with so much from him, I wpuld be terrifed if I had everything to lose and were in the crosshairs of a powerful millionaire.

That courage. Real genuine courage.

I would love to see her face when she sees how it has turned a big corner.

Hurrah hurrah and Happy New Year!!

I have tracked down the lovely Hugh Muir who wrote the article - he is mobile.twitter.com/hugh_muir

Since I don't do twatter, perhaps someone could twit him and tell him that I love him and, were I 20 years younger, would want to have his babies Grin

Maybe he would also be interested in some of JHs other posts on MN over the years?

roadwalker · 01/01/2014 13:20

I am worried that it reads as a bit of a giggle
I want something more serious to happen to him

CarpeVinum · 01/01/2014 13:59

ohhhhh, the guardian link would be perfect as a reference for the bottom of the wiki page !

Like to see it get wiped off with that link there to supoort the section.

CarpeVinum · 01/01/2014 13:59

We'll that is a happy happy new year right there. Well done Carpe et al, is there anything or anyone you want tweeting/retweeting or do you want to wait until people are back in offices?

MadameDefarge · 01/01/2014 14:29

Getting news into the Nationals is the holy grail of PR.

Job well done. Onwards and upwards for the long term strategy.

CustardoPaidforIDSsYFronts · 01/01/2014 14:31

well done chaps! the Grauniad - am impressed

CarpeVinum · 01/01/2014 14:36

Lost it's well worth retweeting to anybody active today. I'm saving some names for when they come back tonight or the morrow.

In the meantime....

OP posts:
MadameDefarge · 01/01/2014 14:38

yes carpe, I am sure there is something rather Russian you would like to share with us??? Grin pretty please?

LostInWales · 01/01/2014 14:43

Tweeting the law blog to anyone I see active. I know the Guardian is an amazing achievement but the law blog really makes me Grin.
