HemmingGate: To ban or not to ban, that is the question MNHQ

CarpeVinum · 30/12/2013 17:46

Some of us would like to know if a certain politico will be banned, proper.

No rush.

We know you have a lot on your plate with ... stuff.

(I probably got two quotes mixed up in subject line. Don't panic! It's me not you. Am philistine. Italy is wasted on me. Not keen on art, prefer shopping.)

"Attacking" the Telegraph pronto :)

IamtheZombie · 02/01/2014 18:56

Just to give everyone a giggle. Earlier Adam Wagner tweeted: The benefit of million year sentences is that it allows for the possibility that vampires and demons exist.

I replied to him saying: And Zombies. Don't forget Zombies.

He re-tweeted my reply! Shock

WestmorlandPigInBlanket · 02/01/2014 19:00

Deary me I step away from my computer for one day and look what happens.

I'm actually feeling a little bit proud of us all right now - just goes to show that sometimes the people can have some power if you get organised and typing happy!

It feels odd to have achieved something so massive with a small group of random (but lovely) strangers!

SantasPelvicFloor · 02/01/2014 19:11

I am not followed by the PM... I did love the Carpe comment of it might be a free one for joining up

I'm still quietly prodding, poking and tweeting...oh and now commenting.

MadameDefarge · 02/01/2014 19:13

I think it is also important that all posters here, and lurkers, contact MNHQ to express their feelings about it.

He has not only broken MN rules, he has perpetuated the abuse via his website and by extention through to the national press.

This cannot be acceptable, ever, on MN.

MadameDefarge · 02/01/2014 19:18

Carpe you need to tweet the birmingham Mail pull of the piece, and the nationals..

CarpeVinum · 02/01/2014 19:22

If anybody is trying to comment on ANY of the news stories, given that they are doing a santised/wrong version....can you please try and sneak at least a partial link to the synopsis of what actuslly happened.

A lot of comment might not take the whole link, they will reject the comment, that happens chop off the bit, or try just posting the blog name Deepest Darkest Lomellina (it'll be the first sesrch result) the sysnopis is the top post.

People who are interested to read the news story might like to hear the less sanitised version of what he said and did on the thread. If somebody can get it in the comments, that might just happen.

Sorry guys gone quiet assignment due in and not even started it.

CarpeVinum · 02/01/2014 19:33

It's like waiting for a bus. Wait three weeks, then 8 turn up at once, and one of them tries to run you over.

OP posts:
WestmorlandSausage · 02/01/2014 19:40

well thats a slightly different take by the independent. At least they didn't just do a copy and paste I suppose!

LostInWales · 02/01/2014 19:47

Carpe, Spero, LakeDistrict, the lot of you, well done. Twatter is just amazing. Your persistence is just amazing. What a brilliant bunch of clever, strong women. I hope he is a tiny bit scared right now and thinking perhaps there might be a better way to go about things after all.

My teenager is amazed looking at all the links to proper newspapers with the story his mother has wittered on about to him all week. A good lesson in treating women with respect and behaving well in life I think.

AGnu · 02/01/2014 19:49

“I didn't realise it was against Mumsnet's rules and regulations, I haven't read them.”

Pretty sure that I couldn't go around breaking the laws of this country & then, when arrested, just say "Opps, sorry, I didn't check if it was ok to go around stabbing people." Isn't there something about ignorance being no defence?!

CarpeVinum · 02/01/2014 19:51

A good lesson in treating women with respect and behaving well in life I think.

That.

Lake

How quick could you knock up a translation of the synopsis, or are you still snowed under at the mov?

I'd do it, but I'm slow, and Eng-Ital translations in this house always lead to marital disagreement where I accuse Italian of not having enough words an DH bangs on about how MESSY English is.

We didn't talk to each other for three hours after the last translation.

CarpeVinum · 02/01/2014 19:53

I thought the independant dealt with that claim wuite well.

Just wanted to delurk and say, "well done!"

MadameDefarge · 02/01/2014 19:56

I want you all to understand how bloody fantastically you have all done.

National coverage, Guardian, Telegraph, Independent and the Mail.

fucking amazing.

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 02/01/2014 19:56

The "didn't know" defence is just ridiculous. Even if he didn't know the italian law on it, he clearly knows the british law on family court/privacy because he is an active campaigner against it!

He is definitely aware that the recently fostered child lives in Britain, as that was what the entire discussion was about. So he has intentionally broken a british law that he campaigns against, bullshit was it an accident.

And any journalist that is accepting "oops" as an excuse needs to have a think about how gullible they are

CarpeVinum · 02/01/2014 20:07

I have a meme for the "oh it was just a mistake" minimisation

I am so tired of the word mistake being used to try to make "big and awful" seem more like "small and irrelevant".

OP posts:
MadameDefarge · 02/01/2014 20:09

well yes beyond, it seems incomprehensible how any literate person could think that.

You have to know that they submit copy, evil, hardcore subs cut it down to size, and decide headlines without reference to either the author or the piece. This is an issue.
