HemmingGate: To ban or not to ban, that is the question MNHQ

CarpeVinum · 30/12/2013 17:46

Some of us would like to know if a certain politico will be banned, proper.

No rush.

We know you have a lot on your plate with ... stuff.

(I probably got two quotes mixed up in subject line. Don't panic! It's me not you. Am philistine. Italy is wasted on me. Not keen on art, prefer shopping.)

TBH, it doesn't work that way. IF John Hemming has a hotline to the Owner of the Birmingham Mail, and has something on him, well, maybe.

I would think its a tech issue.

Tiredemma · 02/01/2014 18:06

Im really pissed that the BHam mail has pulled the story.

MadameDefarge · 02/01/2014 18:06

Let's wait and see.

PacificDogwood · 02/01/2014 18:10

The story was too fact-based to warrant pulling IMO - nothing unique in it

MadameDefarge · 02/01/2014 18:10

The key to fighting downplaying pronouncements is to rebut with decent satire, while also fighting the good fight.

Tiredemma · 02/01/2014 18:14

im going to email them to ask why its been pulled

Tiredemma · 02/01/2014 18:15

as a council tax payer of Bham City Council etc etc

LakeDistrictBabe · 02/01/2014 18:16

At the Birmingham Mail a technical issue seems probable because it doesn't appear blank to me, just a bit 'strange'.

MadameDefarge · 02/01/2014 18:16

good idea.

I am going to email Matt Chorley and ask why he put mother instead of children is his subheadings. But knowing what happens, is he prepared to challenge the subs thoughtless subheadings?

MadameDefarge · 02/01/2014 18:18

Its not pulled. Just some tech shite. No paper would go to press (paper or otherwise) unless they were confident of their piece.

IamtheZombie · 02/01/2014 18:19

Try accessing the Birmingham Mail via Google, not via one of the links to the story.

Lake, the bit strange is only when you try to access via a link to the story.

Tigerbomb · 02/01/2014 18:19

The rest of the Birmingham Mail seems fine - I think they have pulled the article

SunshineOnACrappyDay · 02/01/2014 18:20

I've just seen the DM article. I fucking hate them.

Spero Flowers

MadameDefarge · 02/01/2014 18:21

well, that is interesting.

all good...if it has been pulled, hey, grist to the PR mill...just think what their commercial competitors will make of it?

sadsqueaker · 02/01/2014 18:22

The Telegraph have picked it up too

Maily Telegraph linky

Comments are open...

LakeDistrictBabe · 02/01/2014 18:24

Lake, the bit strange is only when you try to access via a link to the story.

Zombie If they had pulled the story, shouldn't the message say 'address not found' when you try to click on the link? It seems like the server is under pressure, too many views lol

In the end, the same story has already been passed on to other papers and onlie outlets.

PacificDogwood · 02/01/2014 18:26

Again, the Telegraph piece only mentions 'the mother's name' and 'inadvertently' giving a uses NN and RL name Hmm

They are all copying from each other, aren't they? Grin

Spero · 02/01/2014 18:30

O ffs. Munby was clear that the mother ought to be allowed to identify herself if she so wished.

The issue here is he NAMED ALL THE CHILDREN.

they had really distinctive possibly 'unique' names.

He is a nasty piece of work. What possible justification was there for naming a baby? Against a court order that said no one should name the baby?

He just didn't care. He wanted to get one over the Italian speakers on the thread.

Sadly it would seem no one else cares. The media just want to go for the 'posting while drunk' angle, and frankly that is the least of his crimes.

MadameDefarge · 02/01/2014 18:31

I really really want to emphasise how well everyone had done.

Guardian
Daily Mail
Telegraph

This is BIG coverage. It might not be all that we want. but it is bloody good going.

Let alone local press and media outlets.

Fucking fantastic.

MadameDefarge · 02/01/2014 18:32

I do get it Spero, but you can't herd the media...you can only lead with little crumbs...

That is why I said it was a long term campaign.

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 02/01/2014 18:33

Telegraph article not perfect, but the best so far I think. I know they do later go on to use "inadvertently" etc but

"The outspoken MP for Birmingham Yardley has his Mumsnet account suspended after he published confidential information on the site and also exposed the identities of some anonymous posters."

Is a good paragraph that for once isnt inaccurate.

The bit,

"Unfortunately the un-redacted documents included the woman’s name, contravening a court order granting her anonymity."

could have done with focussing on her children though, shame they are all missing that

PacificDogwood · 02/01/2014 18:33

Yes, I actually feel a bit weird about how far this TwitterStiffBreeze as come; 'weird' in a good way.
My brother is in pr and I know from him moaning talking about his job how hard it can be to get coverage when you want it.

Well done, everybody Thanks [medals to Carpe and Spero]

sadsqueaker · 02/01/2014 18:37

I've started off the comments in the Telegraph, a few helpers/recommends would be good before his/Brookers followers descend en masse and ruin itWink

sadsqueaker · 02/01/2014 18:41

shit, I meant Christopher Booker of course.

DrankSangriaInThePark · 02/01/2014 18:43

The telegraph one is good. All things considered. Esp as they were at the forefront of the baby ripped from womb hysteria.much more measured now.
