HemmingGate: To ban or not to ban, that is the question MNHQ

CarpeVinum · 30/12/2013 17:46

Some of us would like to know if a certain politico will be banned, proper.

No rush.

We know you have a lot on your plate with ... stuff.

(I probably got two quotes mixed up in subject line. Don't panic! It's me not you. Am philistine. Italy is wasted on me. Not keen on art, prefer shopping.)

Yep, is a local rag. The Sunday mercury, another local one might pick it up too.

CarpeVinum · 02/01/2014 17:22

or at least, ai think that is what 625k facebook likes means ?

OP posts:
CarpeVinum · 02/01/2014 17:24

Wolverhampton is near birmingham isn't it ?

PS, my dad claimed he was from hollywood in birmingham. Is there a hollywood in birmingham ? Could this be actually true.

Over 600k 'likes'?? Wow

AGnu · 02/01/2014 17:35

Is anyone else getting really annoyed with the use of the word "inadvertently"? He didn't trip & happen to land on the precise combination of keys on his keyboard to post that information. He opened the file, highlighted the words he now claims not to be able to interpret, pressed copy, opened the MN thread, pasted & then discussed how this was 'proof' of whatever ridiculous point he was trying to make at the time. Absolutely nothing "inadvertent" about it.

Sorry, it's just really bothering me that they're saying he did it accidentally rather than that he claims it was inadvertent. Subtle distinction but vastly different connotations.

MadameDefarge · 02/01/2014 17:36

they are covering their legal arses.

That's all.

IamtheZombie · 02/01/2014 17:37

Zombie thinks that's the number of FB likes for the DM, not the article.

Tiredemma · 02/01/2014 17:37

Yes Carpe - we do have a 'Hollywood' here in Bham.

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 02/01/2014 17:38

I'll certainly be screenshotting anything even vaguely controversial in future! Wish mnhq were able to release what he said.

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 02/01/2014 17:39

I know why they arent btw, just wish they could

Spero · 02/01/2014 17:39

the Daily Mail are really utter disgusting shits.

Thank goodness I don't care being 'outed' in both my real name and my user name.

But for some people this would have been an utter disaster. I note they didn't care to find out which category I fell into.

MurderOfGoths · 02/01/2014 17:39

Hmm.. am I actually going to have to turn off Tea and Kittens?

CarpeVinum · 02/01/2014 17:39

Zombie is correct, it's the same number on all stories.

How can you track a story's popularity ? Can't be comments cos I know loads that haven't made it through moderation.

MadameDefarge · 02/01/2014 17:40

They didn't try to contact you?

Shame on them.

CarpeVinum · 02/01/2014 17:41

Realu sorry Spero even if you don't mind so much. Must be wuite a shock to see it in black and white.

OP posts:
MadameDefarge · 02/01/2014 17:42

Is someone is on the DM, can they comment to the effect that the DM has also outed an MN poster, but this time in national media?

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 02/01/2014 17:43

If I were you spero, I'd put an open letter to the dm in chat or aibu (for max views) telling them exactly what I thought about it. As theres not really anything you can do about it. Angry

Perhaps hq would get onside then too?

PacificDogwood · 02/01/2014 17:45

Ah, that's disappointing (that so many people would 'like' the DM, I mean).

Sprero, glad you are ok about it all. Thanks
But I cannot believe they did not every try to ok it with you first.

DrankSangriaInThePark · 02/01/2014 17:47

Spero Flowers
Just hang onto the idea, that is becoming more than just a pipe dream with every new development, that come the day of reckoning (and it will come) that you'll be named again as the person who did this for a long time almost on your own.
Cannot believe that while I was in asda treating myself to an anorak ( carpe Don't tell dem stylish Italians that my clothing came with my cauliflowers when we get striscia to interview us)

DrankSangriaInThePark · 02/01/2014 17:51

I rather like the idea of the letter from Spero if you feel up to it. The press are all over this thread I imagine.....

IamtheZombie · 02/01/2014 17:53

The Birmingham Mail have pulled this morning's story. I accessed the paper via Google, did a search on JH and there are NO stories from today.

Someone must have been very persuasive...

Spero · 02/01/2014 17:53

Ok, i am going to start a thread in In the News

MadameDefarge · 02/01/2014 17:55

look out for DM comments.

Whatfun · 02/01/2014 17:56

Zombie, I wonder which multi millionaire could have such influence? Let me think......

Spero · 02/01/2014 17:59

If anyone wants to express any disgust at the Daily Mail, may I kindly welcome you over here
